Work Meals

so yet another question for everyone...
I'm trying to find some more options for work lunches. I bought a bunch of the Atkins frozen meals when they were on sale and I had coupons. And they work great but I'm getting pretty burned out on them and when they aren't on sale they are pretty spendy considering I can't eat the whole thing and they are terrible reheated so what I don't eat gets tossed out.
So what are some of your go to "on the go" or work meals? I've found it's near impossible to find any good options when I'm out and about or have to take one my clients (I work in a group home) out to lunch and tend to end up with a grilled chicken patty (which is also getting boring). Any and all ideas welcome!

Canned tuna fish, canned chicken, plain greek yogurt, grilled turkey (I make it by taking turkey cutlets and grilling it into bit size pieces). Perhaps boring but it's easy, high protein and doesn't take much thought :)

I make a big batch of lentil veggie curry and take that and add some meat if it is available from leftovers or a Boca Veggie burger. Greek Yogurt, etc. I tend to look for building blocks that are around 100 cal/10+ grams of protein and build a lunch from there.

I posted the recipe somewhere here.

My desk at work is stocked with protein bars, tuna single serve packets and usually some jerky and almonds to cover snacks or if I don't bring my lunch and need a quick solution. I really like the Star Kist flavored tuna packets.

Mostly leftovers from last night's dinner. Other than that I will bring some frozen cooked shrimp and cocktail sauce, deli/cheese rollups with mustard to dip, or chicken salad. I make a quick Buffalo chicken salad that my whole family really likes:

6-7 oz. chicken breast, shredded. You can use canned, too.
1 6 oz. container plain Greek yogurt
    couplefew shakes of dehydrated onion
    2 oz. bleu cheese crumbles.
    Franks Red Hot to taste

This is delish with celery dippers or on a couple of Fiber Gourmet crackers. I may have to make this for tomorrow.

I am only 7 weeks out, but my staples are milk, greek yogurt, cheese, tuna or chicken salad. All quick and easy, I also will bring something from last nights dinner if it is portable and can reaheat in a microwave.

AngryViking has the right idea. Package up a lunch from dinner leftovers BUT hold it back a day or too so you don't get bored. For example: Saturday dinner for Monday lunch, Sunday dinner for Tuesday..etc. Avoid the pre-packaged, frozen meals - even Atkins. Train yourself to eat real food.

I bring both breakfast and lunch every day to work. Breakfast is usually Dannon Light Greek Yogurt 2X Protein or Cottage cheese. Very rarely I will bring the other 1/2 of an omlett. Lunch is usually a salad (1 cup of lettuce mix, a 1/4 cup shredded cheese and 4 ounces of meat) with one of the Bolthouse Farms salad dressings as they are made with yogurt so have more protein and less fat than most dressings. I love salad and don't get bored with a salad most days because I switch up the meat, cheese and dressing depending on what I feel like eating. When I want soup, I make my own because I can load it up with protein and really restrict the fat and sodium. I tend to make a big pot and freeze in 1 cup servings for those odd times I'm etiher out of salad stuff or just want something different/warm. I also bring leftovers when I have any.

I didn't know that about Bolthouse Farm dressings. When I am allowed to have salad, which will in about 6 weeks, I'm going to be getting that brand. Great tip!

As for lunches, I have been getting sliced deli meat and taking 2-3 oz, along with veggies or fruit. Sometimes I'll get an individual sized cottact cheese and have that too. The individual packets of tuna are also handy. I like stuff that I can grab and go, because I always seem to be short of time in the morning.
