Hello! I'm Victoria. I'm just getting into lifting. Actually, I have my first appointment with a PT at my college gym on Tuesday. He's got two Masters degrees and a whole bunch of letters after his name. He is a strength and conditioning coach for a lot of the athletes at the college, so I figure he's a good bet. He did my fitness test the other day. Best breathing technique he's ever seen (I'm a trained opera singer), but my glutes need a lot of work.

I joined MFP two years ago. Y'know, the whole "I'm getting married!" thing, and Jillian Michaels DVDs. Then I got into C25K, and am now working on 10K. I have my first race in May.

I'm hitting the gym five days a week. Running MWF, and strength TTR. I'm at the school anyway, and usually have an hour to two hours to kill before my husband picks me up, so I'm making use of it.

I'm really excited to start lifting. I want to be strong. I want to be able to move the furniture around in my house without help. Open pickle jars. Maybe even throw my husband across the room if he's being an idiot. ;)

So, yeah. That's me. I'm a newb, but an enthusiastic one.

Hi, I'm Nicole. I'm also new to lifting. I'm a runner. I'm training for the 2016 LA Marathon and I'll also be doing a half marathon and some 5ks this year.

I started doing some strength training last year. After severely spraining my ankle while running an obstacle course, I had to do months of physical therapy. I could not do any cardio for 6 months. I had to do a lot of lower body strength training in physical therapy, which made my hips and butt stronger. After finishing physical therapy I continued to strength train my lower body and started running again. I'm liking the way my lower body is starting to tone up.

Now I want to start lifting and strengthening my upper body as well. In the past I've been kind of intimidated to pick up weights because I wan't sure how to use them, like what exercises to do. I've been trying to research some good routines to do online. I'm starting out with a weak upper body. I can't even do a proper normal pushup or a single pull-up. But I want to change all of that and get strong!
