Do I need to do a reset?

I have been doing MFP for about 20 days with a goal of 1200 calories plus allowing myself to eat back 150-250 exercise calories. So I was eating about 1350-1450 a day most days. I recently discovered this group and want to give it a try because I'm worried that eating that low isn't sustainable for me. My question is do I need to do a reset or can I just start eating minus 15%.
For my activity level, my minus 15% is 1744 and my BMR is 1322. So I wasn't really eating much below BMR most days although some days I probably was if I didn't work out that day.
Thanks for the advice. I have 15-20 pounds to lose, and I'm very patient. I will do what it takes! Ideally I'd like to lost a good portion before summer!

How were you eating before joining MFP? If you weren't on a low cal diet before the 20 days then you don't need to do a reset and can jump to the TDEE-15%.0

I was eating Paleo for a few weeks in an attempt to lose weight because it worked for a friend but it just didn't cause weight loss for me. I was eating a lot of calories and carbs though so there wasn't really a deficit of things. (just no grains or beans) Probably right around my TDEE because I didn't gain or lose.
I have done MFP low calorie in the past, but it's been a year or so.
Thanks for the input. I'm gonna start at TDEE minus 15%. I have to say it feels freeing already!0
