Hi everyone. I'm sure you see this frequently. New people with questions for you. I hope you aren't tired of them.

Last week I decided to give the low carb, high fat and moderate protein a shot after reading about it and noticing how many diseases actually are associated with carbs or if not then low carb variations seem to be the suggestion for many diseases. I have PCOS but not the type which is associated with diabetes. Meaning I went through two glucose tests and didn't show to have an insulin issue.

However I frequently deal with low blood sugar issues which leaves me nauseous , and with a bad headache. I never feel satisfied unless I eat a huge meal and I frequently want to eat, snack etc. So there is my story.

I'm feeling good with this way of eating. I started noticing that I'm not hungry all the time, I am not wanting to eat all the time and I'm losing weight. Good, good and good.

I have been trying to figure out something which I am hoping someone here can help me with. I think I'm getting too much protein in my diet but I'm not sure. How can you figure out how much protein is enough / too much ?

Do you agree with what this blog says?

http://ketodietapp.com/Blog/post/2014/05/20/All-You-Need-to-Know-About-Protein-on-a-Low-Carb-Ketogenic-Diet

How much protein should I eat per day?
If your weight is in pounds, multiply it by 0.6 and 1.0 to get the minimum and maximum amount of protein in grams you should eat each day.

Thank You!

Hi there, welcome to low carb. Your protein is actually lean body mass multiplied by .6-1. Not your weight.

Go to this keto calculator to figure out your macros.

    http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/

Depending on your goals, your macros should be around 65-70% fat and the rest filled in with protein and carbs.

I had stumbled across that calculator earlier in my search. I guess I need to buy one of those body fat gauges to use it.

I try to hit 65g or more of protein a day. I'm 5'8", weigh 138lbs. and 20% body fat.

Thank you. I'm looking into order that fat measure tool ( I know completely unscientific there ) on Amazon but they have the best one set as an add on for a 25 dollar order which I don't need yet. Thanks for sharing , it gives me an idea for range

You don't need to buy one of those gauges. You can get an estimate of body fat by doing some measurements. Go to http://www.fat2fittools.com/tools/bf/
