Competitive Swim season

Have a class project due in about a week where I have to make up a "schedule" for "training" in for an athlete. Out of the sports I know, right now the one that is closest to my heart is swimming, but I'm running into a SLIGHT problem....
What are the approximate dates for "in season" swim meets?? The school I'm at right now has a pool and no swim team, and the one time waaaay back when that I was part of a community swim team, I never made it to any meets. (too slow, and had no coordination for the butterfly, which kept me out of most of the competitive slots.)
Help?!?

It really depends. I've been on a few different teams. Competitive YMCA age group team seasons generally go from early Fall through about April then they have a summer season. High school teams vary. Some have the sport in the fall, others winter. My high school team season started the first monday after Thanksgiving and went until Superbowl Sunday (before championship meets). College seasons vary by division. My DIII school starts October 1st and goes until mid March.0

Thanks! At least now I've got a time bracket to work with for this project. I would have to pick a sport that doesn't have a truly defined "season", wouldn't I? ::Chuckles:: Oh, well. Keeps things interesting. Now I just have to sit down and actually write the paper - due next Thursday.0

If you're looking for the Olympic season, training for short course (yards) generally begins third or fourth week of August and goes through nationals which are usually mid-March. The "summer" season generally begins the first week of April (or two to three weeks after nationals) and continues through nationals (or olympic trials) in mid July to late July. Check usaswimming.org for the competition schedule for the national competition dates.0
