Getting close to 30 lbs lost.....still have 20 to go. The challenge this spring and summer is to eat healthfully while doing all my fieldwork for my work as a biologist. It's been easier now since I work out of my home so I can take time to make nutritious meals.
Does anyone have a good oat/nut bar recipe they make and enjoy? I have downloaded a few off the internet but haven't tried making them yet.

Happy belated birthday, Mihani! So happy to hear you are having a work-free weekend to celebrate Sounds amazing.
Coues, thanks so much for sharing that!! I've tried the Glo Bars from Oh She Glows and I really like them. I don't make them too often but they are nice to have. I've also tried her Almond Joy bar too. Weight loss graph says it all!!!
Okay I'm semi freaking a bit... it's been a week since I have cut out all the crap, totally pb vegan, no alcohol, no crappy sugary things, and I'm up 5 or 6 pounds?! I am blaming my semi-new T25 workout regime (especially since it is 5 days in a row) and maybe hormones, but I really hope things turn around! I hate the scale.
Great to have you on the 6 week wagon too, Terri!
JCN those tofu marinara things sound amazing!!
Quick hi from me. I'm drowning at work this week and I'm a bit sleep deprived so really everything seems like a big deal lol. Happy Thursday! xo

Happy Belated Birthday, Mihani!
I haven't checked in since Sunday, goodness! We have had very high patient numbers all week so, I did agree to change the times I was going in, as well as adding yesterday into my schedule. I work today as well, but not until 3pm. Which is good, because I am sleepy! But the contractors are here and work continues, albeit not as loud as yesterday...yet. I figured yesterday was a good day to go in as they were sawing holes in the new bathroom floor area...wow! I need to pick some paint colors in the next couple of days, I think. Especially for the area of the basement we finished off. Currently it will be my workout area, but if we ever go to sell, it will be presented as a family activity space. Also, our new master bath and room colors. I did the walk in closet area in "Blondalicious", lol, where do they get these names? Anyway, it is a soft warm yellow, with chocolate hardwood.
So we are almost set to wrap up February! How does everyone feel about their Food and Fitness? I feel good about fitness, I have been doing a 21 day fix with a group-I just do the workouts and use MFP for the food tracking, not that silly container business. I do enjoy the workouts, plus they are only 30 minutes. However, I do not get the calorie burn I was getting from my Kettlebell Kickboxing Scorcher Series...but I needed a break from that. Was starting to develop some dread factor. I do want to keep going with my heavy kettlebell work. No dread factor there, just boredom from the same routine sometimes, so need to do something different. I have had my increased dose of thyroid med for 2.5 weeks, it usually doesn't get measured til 6 weeks, so I don't know as if I am seeing the full effects of that yet. I did drop off 5pounds of water when they gave me that diuretic, which was good...hey, there are my wrists/fingers/ankles!0 -
Oh, coueswhitetail, congrats on your loss! I did check out your dropbox, pretty cool! I will have to revisit and see where I want to keep that!0

Happy Birthday Mihani! and thanks for all you do keeping our little group here going!
And thanks to everyone for your kind words about the recipes and weight loss. If you look a the weight loss graph you can see that it pretty much stalled for the month of December due to attending holiday parties! Ugh....it's so nice to be back on track and feeling the pounds melting away. I really am an idiot for allowing my weight to get so high, but at least FINALLY I am turning it around and I believe permanently thanks to ETL and MFP.
Liapr don't panic...just keep moving in a positive direction. It's easy to panic and give up, but that is the worst thing you can do. No matter what the scale says you are making progress toward a healthier you. Eventually the scale will catch up with you. Keep making changes and moving toward your goal and you will get there. Probably not as fast as you want, but I think that's something we all learn and have to deal with on this journey. When I get frustrated with slow weight loss I just tell myself that the scale is not the only measure of the changes I am making and perhaps not even the most important measure.0 -
Happy Birthday Mahini
I just lifted my head from the darn computer. I am so ready to retire already. So much computer/paperwork sucks the fun right out of my job.
Anyway, never ate lunch just sitting down to my dinner now. I didn't make the beet patties so left overs for me. Luckily hubby is working late; he will fend for himself.
b; usual oatmeal
d; broccoli rice casserole, veggie soup, salad
Sorry for the negative mood, combo sugar withdrawl paperwork day.

Thanks for the birthday wishes y’all.
Terri, I have been really struggling with fatigue lately too. I have found that if I avoid starches until dinner it helps a lot. If I eat any starches at lunch I feel so tired and can’t concentrate in the afternoon. Never used to be like that. Thing is, I crave those things especially when I’m tired! I drink a fair amount of water usually, but I’ve been trying to drink more during the day and that seems to help too.
Lia, that is not fair, I agree, but give it a bit more time and I bet you have a big whoosh back down the scale. I remembered hearing about weight gain when starting a new workout so I googled and here’s an article about it. sparkpeople.com/blog/blog.asp?post=why_the_scale_goes_up_when_you_start_a_new_workout_plan
Jean, are they getting close to finishing the work on your house? I feel good about the food part of February, not so much the fitness, but now that I’ve started my tai chi classes I’m happier about that. Very cool you will have a dedicated workout area.
coues, I remember a couple years ago I said I was glad to get back to normal eating after a splurge. That’s when it hit me that eating nutrient dense food had become my new normal. That was a good day. Not that I don’t wander off into SAD eating still, but it is an almost immediate feeling that it was a mistake. I don’t feel as well and my energy level drops.
Terri, hope you get some rest this weekend. I’m swamped at work too, the stress is taking a toll.
Saturday will be the birthday celebration, not that I am really celebrating, but the past few years there has been a small gathering for food and wine and it’s nice to have something fun to break up the cold dark winter. I will not be logging Saturday.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes.
I had a great week. I bought some new clothes, my family took me out for supper, my hubby and I had a date night and watched a movie, I got a new haircut, and today I was told that I'm looking hot!
I did pull a muscle in my ribs this week - MAN, you use your ribs for EVERY MOVE YOU MAKE!! It was darn near impossible to do pretty much everything... I'm almost back to 100%, but I can still feel it when I'm leaning (about to sit, about to stand, washing dishes, bending over to pick something up, etc)...
My morning strength training class starts next week. I'm really looking forward to it!0 -
In the spirit of many delicious food photos being shared, I made this last night!
(surprise, surprise... It's OSG's cumin lime black bean quinoa salad). I couldn't believe how good it was! I was supposed to put it away for lunch but I kept standing Iver the bowl with the spoon lol

Mihani, I hope you have a great bday celebration! Those smaller gatherings are always the best in my opinion. Hopefully some yummy food and it will take your mind off work. Thanks for that article too, btw! I remember hearing that weight gain was semi common for the first 2-4 weeks of a new workout regime. Coues, thanks for the words of encouragement too. You're right, I'm not about to stop now just because I haven't had my drop I wanted! I do feel better and I like that my fitness is already improving. Plus it's really nice to know there is life without constant sweets! Who knew?!
Anyone else finding that they are having some cravings though? I keep thinking of brownies and fried things.... I don't even eat fried things generally! But I remember last time I was pretty strict with ETL I had some cravings for a couple of weeks.
Awesome birthday celebrations too, Karrie!!! Love the compliments. Sounds like a great week
Terri, hope today is a better day for you so far. I hate those days... that was me this morning. I also pout from time to time about not having sugar, lol. I hope you get a great sleep tonight at least!
Jean, I've heard good things about the 21 Day Fix! I feel actually really good about both my food and fitness, but mainly for the end of the month. Had some ups and downs earlier. I'm excited for you to have the house all finished!! It will be so lovely, I'm sure. Picking paint is fun too0 -

HI All,
Mahini: have a happy bday celebration day--have fun!
Karrie: new clothes fun! hope your back feels better.
Lia: i struggle with cravings all the time. The only way I stop the cravings is to eat a lots healthy food. I have been eating vegetable soup for snack instead of fruit or a sweet. So, far no craving, will see. Hubby is sick so a quiet weekend. I will probably start me weeks cooking tonight.
Sabine: love the picture and I definitely will make that one.
Been doing really well with ETL. Pretty strict just a little over on the starches but not one sweet--for me that is a real accomplishment.
b: usual oatmeal
l: pea soup/ apple
d: mushroom stroganoff, kale salad, artichoke lentil loaf0
