I need your honest opinion about PB2 vs Peanut Butter

PB2 or real unsalted peanut butter in my smoothies?

I ask because I have been using PB2 in them and have now read that PB2 is void of a lot of the nutrients we get in the natural peanut oils.

Here is the article about PB2 and it's process
foodbabe.com/2012/09/16/the-truth-about-pb2-powdered-peanut-butter/

Is this article a scare tactic or good solid information? I am going to go with probably some good information but I am not sure it is truly solid either. Sometimes I think the scare tactics are to get you to go the way the person who wrote the article wants you to go. Other times I think maybe there is some truth to what they are saying.

So, if you had a choice, PB2 or real unsalted peanut butter made from just peanuts ground up?

Real PB without salt or sugar for me please. I dont like the taste of PB2. Too salty. I have to agree with one of the commenters on that article. If you just looking to add peanut butter flavoring to something without the fat, PB2 is an option (my friend uses it for that all the time). If you looking for the full nutritional benefits of a nut butter, just eat the real thing in small portions.

I agree about the peanut butter with no salt or sugar and I didn't realize that PB2 was so devoid of nutrients. I guess I didn't know the oil was so loaded up and I will go ahead and go back to making my smoothies with real peanut butter instead of PB2, when I finish out the PB2 I have on hand.

I've never even tried the PB2, so my opinion probably shouldn't be counted into the mix.
I like Adams 100% Natural Peanut Butter.
And, I really like the Almond Butter that I can grind myself at Winco in their bulk food section. That stuff, I could eat by the spoonful.
Ha, That has nothing to do with your question, does it.

Hahaha, :D You helped just fine sannferris, I know it's not on your radar so maybe I shouldn't worry about the fat in the peanut butter and enjoy it my smoothies. I like Central Market Creamy Peanut Butter, just peanuts and peanut oil. No salt added.

Check out this link on the benefits of peanuts, I should have checked things out before I decided to use a processed peanut butter.

As nuts go, peanuts aren't my favorite (I prefer pecans, walnuts, almonds, cashews, brazil nuts, hazelnuts and pistachios), but as nut butters go, I prefer plain (nothing added) peanut butter over all other nut butters. I wonder what peanut milk would taste like. I imagine not good, but I may try to make some. I've made almond milk and cashew milk, but have never heard of anyone making peanut milk.

I like pecans, walnuts, almonds, cashews and hazelnuts, I don't care much for brazil nuts or pistachios. I do like some kind of dessert salad with pistachios a friend of mine made. I haven't had it in years though since we moved here.

I used to hate brazil nuts, but love them now. Just 2 or 3 of those nuts usually meets the daily recommended amount of selenium.

That's good to know mygnsac, maybe I will try to learn to eat them, lol.

I didn't know that about brazil nuts either. But I don't know a lot of little things like that so thanks for sharing.
