Ketosis....can't get there - WHY???

I have been doing low carb for over a month. I blew it at first because I had the wrong stevia, so my carbs were not at 20g like I thought. Now been at least a week with the perfect number of carbs. I did have an Atkins bar several days ago because I had nothing else to eat for one meal. I tried the ketostix the last two mornings upon waking. I am barely at trace level. and I mean BARELY pink.
What is going on? I do take a blood pressure med that colors my pee yellow each morning. That is why I waited until the next am to check for ketones. The bright yellow med effect wears off as the day goes on and I drink 10-12 glasses of water. So I wouldn't expect it to affect the next morning's wakeup pee.
Dazed and Confused.
ps. I am losing weight especially since I started the Bulletproof Coffee. :happy:

Try taking a reading at night, not the first pee of the day. I've never been in the dark purple, I am usually in between trace and small when I use the strips (which isn't very often). Do you have a funny metal taste in your mouth? Does your urine smell a bit funky? But if you have stopped eating pasta rice and bread and are keeping the carbs low, you probably are in ketosis. Don't overdo it on the protein as that can be converted into glucose if you are eating too much. There is a lot of info on the internet about ketosis - hopefully it can answer your questions. But if you aren't hungry and you are losing weight, you're probably there0

I wouldn't get too caught up in the ketostix readings. Some people inly show trace for the duration and never go deeper, that may be you if you're losing and LCing, then you're likely in ketosis.0
