Hey all. I'm in the mood for something crunchy. Specifically popcorn. I'm assuming I can't have them, but hoping your going to say I can? Haha

If you find low carb popcorn that tastes good you better give us the name. :p Otherwise, I don't think so. Try pork rinds, they can be buttered and are already salted.

One advantage of being a guy, if you get some coconut oil into your 'stache with your morning coffee every sip of water for the rest of the day will taste like movie popcorn.

Hahaha. That's an interesting perk! Still glad I don't have a stash tho!

I will look for some! Thanks

Mission brand pork rinds! Dipped in guacamole.

Love adding some coconut oil/manna when cooking eggs. And a tiny bit in my coffee.
    And lipgloss. And cuticle softener.

Popcorn is not low carb, and is dried corn, therefore, considered a grain, which is generally not recommended at all on LCHF/keto diets, not only because of its carb count and relatively low nutritional value, but because it is starchy. Plus for general health, you may be concerned with the fact it is likely GMO.

Once in keto-adaptation, if I were you, I'd pick fresh corn over popcorn. I understand you want something crunchy, so as others stated, try pork rinds, or microwave cheese crisps (google for how-to), kelp chips (never had them, but understand they are crispy and delicious), or flax crackers.

I use popcorn as a cheat once a month or once every 2 months. That way I can still look forward to eating it. Then sometimes I feel guilty for even putting one kernal in my mouth and will end up not eating any!!!

Will be trying pork rinds. They always sound revolting but I can't eat chips and I need something to go with my buffalo chicken dip this weekend.

I use them crushed up as a breadcrumb replacement, but I really don't like them on their own. Every once in a while, I'll take a few from the bag, to see if I've changed my mind, and it kills whatever snacky urge I had with the taste.

Try cauliflower fries. Yum. Chop up a head of cauliflower, set your oven to 400 degrees. Toss in oil and salt and pepper. Then put in the oven for 20 minutes, then flip. 20 Minutes and flip and then 20 minutes more and it is done. :) Super delicious!

Pork rinds are not bad and I can see them being a good replacement for chips and popcorn. Will be trying the breasting idea - thanks all!

I do miss the salty crunchy things. My husband has popcorn in the evening but I am not giving in to it. o:) I actually bought some pork rinds yesterday but haven't tried them yet. I was thinking about making a blue cheese/cream cheese dip and warming to facilitate dipping the pork rinds.

Pork rinds dipped in guacamole (homemade or read the label for store bought) are great. Even my non-LC friends love them.

I also made some "cheese crisps" last night. My guy had gotten some cheese its and they were calling to me from the counter, so I just made mine. Essentially, you can use any type of cheese, seasonings, etc. Make 1 tsp piles on parchment paper and bake at 350, start with 5 minutes. If the edges are turning brown, leave two more minutes, then cool. I used just plain mild cheddar. They were fairly decent and nicely crispy. I've been told you can do them in the micro, too. And I know parmesan and havarti would be brilliant. You can do 1" squares or shredded. Look forward to trying these.
  • I don't really like pork rinds either, but dipped in Mexican cheese dip they are really nice. Best thing about them is they fill you up really fast, so you don't eat so many.

I noticed this, especially with the chicken dip, as its really high in protein and fat.
