I am very out of shape(and overweight) so i am starting out with some moderate and will increase to vigorous walking over the next couple weeks before moving into Wk1 of C25K to avoid injury(and disappointment). My goal is to start WK1D1 on Mon Feb 23. In the meantime, like i said, i'll be walking and educating myself, but I look forward to posting my success soon! I've already learned a lot just reading the first few threads in this group. Lots of knowledge and experience here

Greetings ellivort! I opted to do the same thing too...read, learn, worked on my walking. Although I had a false-start with C25k this past week (too many issues, not enough gruff) I'll be starting back tomorrow. Mind you, I've been walking for weeks, so that helps. I look forward to reading your progress. 'Add me' if you'd like.0

Lyssa - did you start today? I just started it.0

Yes, I did...sorry I didn't come back to the forum. A funny/sad thing...muh butt hurts LOL! Yeah, a touch too much "tmi"...but overall, my bod didn't get too cranky, for which I'm thankful. Today, after it breaks 40degrees here, will be D2. I'm looking forward to it.0

I ended up with a back-to-back migraine yesterday, right as I was getting ready to do D2...so D2 happened earlier today. I figure I'll do D3 on Saturday, rest Sunday, and move to W2 on Monday as scheduled.0

I'm set to start on Monday. Here's to hoping it goes well!0

Hello all. I am the new guy. I need to get back to moving but I am thinking walking might be a better beginning.0

Boe, I'm pretty much in the same boat and just starting to get into running again. I'm 56 now, but when I was 42 I went from the couch to completing my one and only marathon. It does start with walking, but after you are walking 30 minutes briskly time to start with a program like C25K. Completing that first 5K gave me a tremendous boost of motivation. You know that old saying about the longest journey...0

A belated welcome, Boe! Like emh said, you start out walking with a very short, very slow jog...almost a walk. Most of us tend to go full-boar running which we learn is rather daft...hence I suggest a very slow jog. I had progressed through Week 1, to Day 3, when my right shoulder freaked out (old military injury) so I've been sidelined from the actual C25k program. However, I've finally been able to return to walking and managed a 5k walk today, under 1 hour. So, worse case scenario, start with walking and get to the 5k point...and then maybe transition to the program...whichever works for you!0
