So I have been craving something snack like that isn't nuts, jerky, veggies or fruit. What is the issue with salted, air popped (free range, ;) popcorn without butter or faux-butter topping?

Corn is a grain. But, if non gmo and organic it may be an acceptable occasional snack for some people. I have it sometimes but it's not healthy for me. Anything starchy is a fail for me.

What's wrong with butter? I have my popcorn loaded with sea salt and real butter.

For right now, I let my popcorn run out. I like it too much and it's too tempting when it's in the house. I'm sure that there are many people who can enjoy popcorn responsibly; me, not so much. lol

The popcorn itself is the problem, not the butter, salt, or coconut oil you might pop it with or put on it.

I do it as a treat once in a while, but like Akima, I can go overboard with it pretty easily, so it's not a frequent occurrence in our house. When we do have it, I pop it in a pot on the stove, with a generous amount of virgin coconut oil (fun fact -- that's how movie popcorn used to get its distinctive flavor), then top it with salt and a generous amount of butter.
