Not losing

I started the 5:2 about 2 weeks ago. I am doing my FDs on Mondays & Thursdays. I probably tend to overeat on non-FDs if I'm honest, & had lost 1.5 lbs but now my period started & back to square 1.
Any advice? I do have 3 meals a day on FD & tend to graze on other days on stuff like Snackajacks, apple, plums, grapes, and low cal popcorn.

    My advice.....patience!

This is not a quick fix. Do it for 4-6weeks. If you are still not losing, count on your non fast days (maintainance cals) for a while and see if you start losing, when sticking to them.

Watch the long term trend over a month two three... Daily and weekly fluctuations are totally normal...salt, grain carbs, new exercise, hormonal cycle...the reasons are many.

Hi Terri, I think that 2 weeks is not really enough time to make a judgment call on your . Fasting is a long term life style choice NOT a quick fix shed it quick or 'fad diet'. like anything else you get out of this lifestyle what you put into it. Fast days take a while to get used to. When I first started I struggled to get under 600 cals and used to eat 3 meals, now I rarely go over 450 cals and I don't eat until around 1.30pm on fast day my previous meal being about 6.30pm the previous day. I eat 2 meals and if exercising on the day following a fast only have a light snack for breakfast. Grazing is fine as long as you know exactly how many calories you are eating on non fast days!
Oh & by the way if you have your period then you will be retaining water this week which will hide true weight loss. Keep on plan and be patient.

Hi terri, well done for making the decision to start the 5:2 diet. I can't advice on a lot but you may have gone back to square one as you're on your period. Your body probably is storing a lot of water, I know my does when I'm on my period. I also wouldn't recommend over eating on non FDs, I know it's difficult as I struggle but I tend to stick to 3 meals on my non FDs and not have any snacks, just drink plenty of sugar free squash as I can't drink plain water!
I've never had 3 meals on FDs, just have lunch and dinner. I know this will sound silly, but are you staying within the 500 calories on your FDs? X

I believe I am within my 500 cals on FDs as much as I can judge with this app. I do find it frustrating that so many things are measured in cups as I don't understand US measurements or in 100g and when I'm trying to work out my portion of the family meal. I will keep going. I have 5 stone to lose.

Terri - I log my stuff in gramms too. You can often choose between different units. When I search the data base, I enter 'carrots raw'. normally a choice pops up without an asterix next to it. Those entries are checked and have lots of different units to choose from. I've also entered alot of foods myself, when I couldn't find something that fit.

Logging is the kicker, don't fudge the numbers and be as accurate as possible. When I stopped logging I gained half my weight back in 2 months. You may think you're eating fewer calories but it's best to know for sure.

I have to agree on the logging..I think I was overeating on my feast days and undoing everything. last week I ate really clean and lost 3.5 lbs. So I think that has a lot to do with it!
