Side Effects - So Tired (4th day)

So, today, I am COMPLETELY wiped. All I want to do is take a nap. My brain is tired, my muscles are a bit sore (no wild workouts - a whole 5 minutes on an elliptical yesterday, but it's mostly my arms that are sore), and it seems like a lot of work to even keep my head up.
I don't think I'm low on salt (I add it to pretty much all my water), and I haven't dipped under 1200 calories since Monday. My carbs are generally right around 15-20g, except on Tuesday when my veg went bad and I didn't notice until I went to eat it.
I made my diary public & will leave it there for a few days.
Any suggestions?

Protein. A bit more, perhaps? I did a Fat Fast this week and had the same problem on days 2 & 3...wasn't getting nearly enough protein for what I'm used to having. Did okay with moving the scale, but not worth the completely overwhelming fatigue I felt those two days. Try to eat closer to your carb & protein goals daily, fill in w/ fat as needed.0

How is your potassium and magnesium?0
-
I don't know what your stats are, but your beginning calories were very low looking to me. I see your protein increasing, but you don't want to go too high on that...eventually. During transition, eating more protein is a good thing, so eat until you are satisfied with protein and fats right now. Also, if you believe your sodium is there, buy a potassium and magnesium supplement and take it, but the faster way is to drink broth...store bought if you have to, homemade is better, though.0

I'm having a similar problem and blamed it on external factors and lack of sleep, but the level of tired is higher this week than before even given the same amount of sleep. I just assumed it was an adjustment thing, as my body is getting used to living on much fewer carbs. I'm on day 4 and my carbs have been between 50-100, as I'm trying not to go into keto due to breastfeeding. I haven't reached my protein goals any of those days though. Maybe that's it.0

Magnesium is a good idea, as I had to quit taking my nightly supplement due to issues with stevia. I do have broth in the freezer at home, but I won't be there for a while yet. I may need to increase my calories dome, but I'm already stuffed from what I am eating.0
-
I stopped and grabbed an apple (22 carbs) and a Kalona yogurt (10 carbs). I think I might need to stick above 50 or so carbs until I adjust to that, then try to drop down from there.0
-
Forgot about something that might be relevant.
I cut my coffee consumption in half starting yesterday. Perhaps I should boost that back up...0 -
If you could just stick it out another few days you will be past this. I had to take potassium. It is over the counter. It helped. But for the most part I just took it easy during the time I was not feeling all that great. It means your body is adapting from burning carbs to burning your fat.0
-
I'm going to try to stick to my metrics, so under 10% or 42g carbs. And up my coffee intake back to wear it was. I'll see if I have magnesium and potassium in the cabinet at home and up the broth.0

I remember day 3 and 4 were rough, day 5 was a little better, and things went up from there. Just glancing at your diary it looks like you usually eat more fat by lunch. Could that be affecting you today? Whenever I eat a piece of cheese or something with more fat, it makes me feel much better.0
-
It could be. I didn’t get around to packing my lunch, then got delayed so I didn't go get something either. I guess I need to start packing them the night before.0
-
I have to pack at night, I usually do it when I make dinner. Your body has to burn something for energy! Do you have a fridge near you where you could keep a few pieces of cheese for days like today? I have a can of tuna and a little pack of mayo at my desk for an emergency.0
-
No fridge, and I have to make my own mayo. I wonder how hard it is to make pemmican...0
-
Yes. Potassium and Magnesium I take mine in the form of Emergen-C Electro Mix and MSM
I often double the packets. They mix easily in water. Mushrooms are a good source of Potassium if you like those. Good with meat.0 -
Mushrooms I can do. Already planned to buy more tomorrow.
I'm going to try to get my lunches for work next week set up at least the night before so I don't have to worry about crashing like I did today as much. Hubby is making up a bunch of burger patties tonight, and I'm going to get my hard-boiled eggs done so I can have egg salad next week.0 -
Feeling a bit better, especially after dinner. 2 bacon cheeseburgers wrapped in lettuce. Went over on carbs by 4, right at on protein, and under on fat, so apparently it's time for hot tea and cream later.0

I add salt to everything but feel best when I get 2000mg sodium from organic bullion every day. I drink it like a small hot tea.0

Good job on the protein! Keep trying for your minimum and I think you'll continue feeling much better. :-)0 -

Read this article:
Keto Flu
And see if it fits you.
I hope this helps,

...I think I cycled through days 2-7 all in one day!
So, consensus seems to be to check magnesium and potassium, then push on through.0 -
Drinking my bone broth (with Himalayan sea salt, coconut aminos, & fish sauce) before I have anything else this morning. I should probably make that a habit.0
-
Oh! I realized why I didn't recognize it, even though I've theoretically done low carb before. Day 4 or 5 is normally when I'd crap out because of the siren call of tamales or waffle fries.
This time, I'm not quitting. My doctor actually told me to go low carb ("modified Atkins or low carb paleo") before I end up diabetic.0 -

Dear Gods above and below, if I'd had to go through all this, I don't think I would have ever come close. I wonder WTH I did wrong, or right, not to suffer all this. OMG, if I hit any of this, and y'all don't hear from me for a while, I'll be in a padded cell with one of those lovely backwards jackets on that are so stylish!0 -

Ha! I know what you mean. I did feel a bit wobbly {twibbly?} On day 4, a wee bit dizzy and faint, but had some hot marmite as a drink and was OK. I also wondered what the fuss was about, but maybe a sign I was meant to eat this way I thought?

Let's roll with that!! Because I feel the same way. My quality of life and such has changed so much since I started this about 40 days ago!!! So we were built for this. Yeah, that's it!0
