Have questions about what a Nutritarian Diet is? What it entails? What you eat? What you can't eat? This will be an ongoing discussion open to general questions about the diet, including benefits, supporting research, and the first six weeks.

What is a nutritarian diet? Dr. Joel Fuhrman coined the term "nutritarian" to describe his recommended plan of eating: choosing foods with maximum nutrition per calorie. For more information, check out his description of a nutritarian diet.

What do you eat on this diet? Look at this in-depth list of foods to eat in unlimited amounts, foods to eat in limitation, and foods to avoid. This is specific to the Eat to Live 6 Week Plan, with more flexibility allowed in the Life Plan. Additionally, take a look at the Nutritarian Food Pyramid.

How do I learn more? Dr. Fuhrman has an extensive library of books that he has written about a nutritarian diet. "Eat to Live" should be the first on your list to read. The "Eat to Live Cookbook" has 200 recipes that are compatible with the 6 Week Plan and the Life Plan. Dr. Fuhrman has written many more books on nutrition, but if you are just getting started, these two books will keep you pretty busy.

Is this diet a fad diet or a crash diet? No. The word "diet" may be listed here frequently, but this is a healthy way of eating for life. Dr. Fuhrman advocates a strict six-week program to kickstart your transformation without compromise. Will the six weeks of strict eating be difficult? Yes, it can be challenging. But the stricter you are, the more quickly you will see benefits, weight loss, and change. After the six weeks, or whenever you are at your ideal weight, you may follow the Life Plan, which aims to be 90% unrefined plant foods with 10% processed foods or animal foods (think of them as condiments instead of the main meal).

Is this diet healthy? Backed by science? Dr. Fuhrman is a family physician and nutritional researcher who advocates a nutrient-rich diet based on hundreds of clinical studies, research, and his own private practice. To read more about Dr. Fuhrman, see his biography for more information. Success stories can also be found on his website if you want to see the transformations that take place.
