Namaste!

Hiya, I have tried my first (assisted) inversion today, shoulderstand, I held for about 5 minutes. When I finished I have noticed a marked increase in thirst, is this normal? Or am I doing something wrong?

I also did a (very brief, my neck is not strong) headstand again assisted by getting in to the pose using the wall, and the same thing happened!

Thank you for your kind advice x

You could be breathing more heavily or breathing through your mouth. That combined with not drinking anything during yoga, could make you more thirsty. 5 minutes is a long time to hold your first shoulderstand.
As long as your teacher is looking at your alignment, your neck doesn't hurt, and you aren't getting headaches, I wouldn't be too worried about it too much.
All the same, let your teacher know.

Thank you very much. I did struggle with correct breathing so you may be on to something. Thank you again.
