Feed it to the family pet!

Share it with your son... Feed him three large bites to any tiny bites you take. A teeny bit won't kill you... And he'll feel special because you shared. LOL

You can also play the, "wow, that was soooooo good, sweetheart. I'm so full. Would you finish this for me? I'd hate to waste something you worked so hard at...." card. At 8, depending on his observance level, you can probably cut it up and move it around so that it looks like you ate more than you did...

As for the cocoa, you can either say you need to warm it up or cool it off, and strategically empty the cup some, as long as he's not at the ready with a pot full waiting on you...

Luckily, he left to play in the snow... So there the whole waffle sits in the kitchen, no one the wiser. He asked, "Did you like my waffle?" to which I replied, "Oh that was so thoughtful!"

Sadly, cats are carnivores, too. I'm always having to knock the family pet away from my plate. She wouldn't touch the waffle. Lol.

That is funny about the cat not touching the waffle. I have learned about dieting from watching animals eat. I am sure at one point in time humans 'knew' what to NOT eat too. :)

Having seen my cat eat food to the point where... well let's just say it had to be cleaned up... I think house pets are no better than humans when it comes to knowing when to stop. Maybe they learn by watching us.
