So, I seem to be continuing a steady decline into illness. I've had to skip my workouts the past few days...just trying to rest up and hope that the extra rest helps my body fight off whatever this is. My hubby was out for the count for a week and a half...but oldest child only had a cough for a week or so and nothing else. Hoping I end up with what she had and not hubby. Only time will tell.
Update on hubby...we had a good talk where I basically just managed to get across that when he watches the kids, he's not doing me a favor. He's merely living up to his responsibility as a father. Overall it went well so we're doing pretty good. Went on a double date last night and had fun.
As for the running conversation I missed yesterday...I started running after I had middle child. I gained about 60 lbs and at that point didn't have access to a pool (I've always been a swimmer). So I decided to try running to drop the weight. I registered for a half marathon and didn't follow any structured plan. I just went out and would jog for about half a block and then walk for pretty much the rest of the time. Then it was slowly another block...then another. It helped to drop the weight (which I promptly gained back with the birth of littlest one). After littlest one was born I had a membership to a gym with a pool so I tried a sprint triathlon and loved it. So now that is what I train for ...with occasional run races thrown in. Still have about 25 lbs left before hitting my goal weight but I'm not really focused on that anymore.
Littlest one is right now getting an evaluation to see if he needs extra help in speech/communication. He's always been a stubborn little bugger...but recently he's been flipping out over stuff because he's not understanding what we're telling him. It'll be a relief to know if his meltdowns are just part of his stubborn nature or stemming from something else.
Hope you all have a great weekend! I'm still hoping to go to my Pilates class tomorrow but I'm skipping all the other workouts this weekend. I'll start fresh on Monday...hopefully having conquered this bug with extra rest!0 -
Lol!
Well today the combo of a lunch date and a forecast+ominous clouds calling for rain, I didn't leave the house with my workout gear. By the time I picked son up, it was gorgeous outside but I was unprepared. :-( a lesson I must re-learn from time to time. So I took the kids to the tutor and came home, started some laundry, and sat in a quiet, empty home for about 45 minutes before going back for them. It was nice!! Got plenty of steps in the process though, so not a total loss. Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. Probably a rainy weekend, so I'm not missing much by being stuck with the kiddos.0 -
Oops, cross posted with val. My "lol" was to the threadstarter. val, hope you get to feeling better. I can really relate to so much of what you go through. It's hard to juggle our goals, our health, our relationships and all the concerns for our children. It seems the scale is always moving, and we can only find brief moments of "balance" before it tips in another direction. I think you are doing great at this crazy balancing act. Glad to hear you and your husband had a good talk. Hope you get some good information about your little one.0

Hi, I ended up with sinus infection, feverish and miserable and had to drive home two days like that. I emailed my doc and thank god she trusted me and faxed meds to city I was driving to for breakfast yesterday. I barely made yesterday's drive, today was even longer but since I had more medicine in me was better. So I am resting and watching my shows until I work all weekend. At least next two days are easy 4 hr shifts.0

I signed up for a Spinning class for Friday morning, but I stayed up really late on Thursday night to watch my new Godfather DVD set. I forgot how long those movies are! I only made it through the first one. I missed Spinning, but I did 35 minutes of the elliptical last night at the gym.0
