HELP! My belly fat increased??

Hi All,

My name is Angeli and I am doing my first bikini competition in September 2013. I hired a coach who has written up a nutrition plan for me, and I am training with my coach 2 times a week and on my own 2 times a week. My coach advised to only do 4 sessions a week as it is early days.

My history: I've been eating clean and healthy for about 2-3 years now, lifting heavy, little to no cardio at the gym - except for walking to and from work which is 20 minutes each way. The past 3 months i've been paleo, and previous to that i was intermittent fasting since August 2012.

When i started my comp prep i was 20% body fat and at 17 weeks out.

For the past three weeks i've been eating a really low carb diet: 5 small meals a day with 100g of cooked meat (chicken, beef, pork, lamb, kangaroo etc) with lots of green veggies (asian greens, brocolli, green beans). I've been eating this way for the last 3 weeks and yesterday my coach pinched my stomach (front belly and side) and the measurements INCREASED!!

Not by a lot, by 1.5cms at the front, and 0.4cms on the side.

Next week i am introducing this breakdown: 40% Protein, 40% Fat, 20% Carbs

Yay for putting carbs back in!

Anyway to the question:

Do you ladies have any tips on how to lose belly fat? Anything i can do to improve my diet (diary is open)? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Wish I could help, but I'm just prepping for my first show too! Started 6 weeks ago, entering week 7 now, competing in my first show Aug 24th and again on Sept 28th.

I'd say TRUST YOUR COACH, if you have a reputable one with clients that have had good results!!!

    Good luck.

You said you were paleo before. Have you added back grains? It could be bloating or inflammation if you are not digesting them well.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I checked with my PT and they reckon its not the brown rice as it is low inflammatory compared to gluten products.

I am still not sure what it is yet but i am having a full bio-sig done today..

    Thanks for your help!
