I'm keto and I didn't know it

I've always suspected that you can be ketogenic on a lowish-carb diet (around 100g/d carb). Your brain needs that much glucose, so you should deplete glycogen stores pretty quickly. Just not as quickly as you hardcore LCHF folk.
Anyway, I decided to test my theory by getting some ketostix. I'm peeing about 40mg/dL of high-octane ketones. Purple power!

Ha ha. I love the way you arrived as as a questioner, if no a downright skeptic, and are now admitting to being 'the full monty'. And that you are doing it in your own way is how things should be
However, I think you may need to retreat to a bunker suggesting that those of us under 100g carbs are 'brain deficient'I see some more sharing of ideas and data coming up

Thanks for tolerating my rants. I'm still skeptical about LCHF for most of the reasons I whined about before, but I feel like I now know the secret handshake.
I probably spend most of my time out of ketosis and only generate significant ketones on relatively low-carb days (I was at around 50g when I tested today). Still, it's cool to know I can generate ketones without any unpleasant side effects (so far).
I'm tempted to do some reaction-time tests to see if my brain is working better or worse. I think my spelling is slightly better.0 -
Dehydration and MCT oil can cause false positives on ketostix.0

I don't eat MCT or coconuts. Hydration seems fine per skin response and urine color. Not really interested in doing blood tests to verify. In fact, I'm not convinced there's a huge benefit to being in ketosis -- just interested in the brain effects.
I would be interested if I can drop IGF-1 levels, but only after I'm done building a little muscle.0
