Weighing in on Whey??

Today- I just didn't feel like eating a lot of meat. I'm looking at my journal and I had 40 grams of whey protein and I'm short about 30 grams of my protein goal. It's the end of the day and I just didn't plan well so I know the alternative foods but I feel like I'd like a shake, nothing else sounds really good. Sometimes I do find myself here and wonder about the high whey intake. I've looked online and don't see any real downfalls of eating that much whey. I probably intake 25-45 grams almost daily but I see a lot of people talking about not relying on it. What is your perspective?

Would the concern be as bad if the protein was from same source but in cottage cheese, yogurt, or milk?
If there was an issue like Consumer Reports found with some products, if they haven't fixed them anyway, there could be concern, but I've never seen any other article like that expressing concern.
