Why did you chose Insanity?

Hi guys!

I just wanted to see the different opinions as to why have you chosen Insanity and what goal are you trying to reach with this program?

I personally love a challenge. I find Shaun T extremely motivational and I am loving the workouts. I mainly want to lose weight but I also want to increase my endurance and strength.
I have read a lot of posts on the internet from people saying that they have lost very little in the first month and more in the second or even gained some weight.
So far I've gained like 2 lbs but I've been sore for the whole week so I hope this is water retention. I really want to finish the whole program and I hope I have the willpower to do so.

What about you? :)

I am not 100% sure why I chose it. I read a lot of reviews and I was so tired of my gym routine *and I was not going anymore* I needed a jump start kick in the butt! So I read and read and read and I have a sort of obsession with things that I enjoy....so this became that. lol I sound crazy but whenever I enjoy something I consume everything I can about it with knowledge and as much experience as possible. I wanted something that would slim me down, increase my cardio endurance *which the elliptical machine did nothing for* and I wanted a body that I was proud of. Insanity so far has been amazing for me, I love how hard I work because I never would have at the gym. Today is day 12 and I am down 8.2 lbs since the start and I can noticably see a difference in size around my stomach and chest. My first measurements I lost a total of 5.51 inches from the body. This program works!

I chose Insanity because I wanted to see my results and I wanted for them to last. About 2 years ago, I used MFP to lose about 37 pounds, but it was not "real" weight loss. I drank a slimfast for lunch everyday and used the elliptical for 40 minutes about 5-6 days a week. So off course the pounds were coming off, but not in a sustainable (or healthy) way. I have always had this dream of wearing a 2 piece bathing suit but have been overweight since I can remember. Even though the slimfast-elliptical diet put me back in a healthy weight range, my stomach was not flat and I did not feel strong.

I had been seeing Insanity infomercials often since I am an early riser, haha. I figured it would be a good way to actually get in shape - I read so many posts on MFP that building and toning muscle burns calories more efficiently than just eating less and doing low-intensity cardio, I just didn't want to try it and thought Insanity was too expensive. Flash forward two years and I gained back all the weight I lost and then some, despite having a trainer for a year and running a half marathon. I had two problems - I wasn't eating clean (I am a student, so I found it difficult not to just eat whatever food I could find whenever I could find it), and I was exercising in spurts (weight training once a week, running one or two times a week). I looked at a picture of myself from recently compared to two years back and saw the weight in my face and realized that I needed to lose the weight again and keep it off for good.

So one week ago, I decided to throw it all in and make a serious investment in my body, both monetarily and emotionally. I started eating clean - tons of fruits and vegetables and lean protein (at least 2 or 3 things that grew from the earth at every meal) - and went headlong into Insanity, making a commitment to seeing those results and making them last.

I really like Shaun T. (mixed feelings on Tanya though, haha). The way he pushes you, you know he's not angry, he just wants you to have the body you want. I hate being yelled at, and (this may sound weird) I feel like Shaun is more supportive than other trainers you see on DVD programs. I certainly like him a lot better than having an actual personal trainer, in front of whom I felt like a fat weakling, haha.

I hope Insanity is going well for you and that you stick with it! I know I will!

@zachherda you don't sound crazy at all! I totally understand and can relate! I am happy for you that you see progress with the program!! I started week 2 on Sunday and so far I've put on like 3 lbs  I really really hope that this is water retention although I don't feel sore and I sweat as crazy. I also like that this program really pushes your limits and at least for me I think most of those limits are mental

@priyasonty Congratulations on finally committing to healthy weight loss. I am also a student and before I went to university I always had something like 6-7 lbs to lose but then I put on 45 lbs for two years. I was making the same excuses - I am a student, I don't have time to cook, healthy food is too expensive, I don't have time to workout, etc., etc. I noticed that with the time I started avoiding going out, taking pictures only because I was feeling so fat ( and I was fat, well still am  ) I also saw the infomercial for insanity early in the morning on the TV. Actually that day I had an exam and I didn't go to sleep so I had a breakfast at 4 am with the TV on hahah :D And I remember thinking "damn I wanna be able to do that!" So yeah the program is great although I put on weight... I hope it comes off with the time.
