Ha! The thread starter made me chuckle.
April - I find my emotional state affects my ability to snack properly. So if I'm super stressed I have to avoid it altogether. But on days where the stress is less, I usually plan out a little snack and if Ife planned out exactly what I will have...it becomes an enjoyment...not a binge.
Yesterday went well...despite the crappy sleep. I got my bike, swim, and leg workouts in. This week is my testing week...and I dropped a small amount of time on both my bike and swim. That made me happy! Run, not so much, but I did that after dinner this week and I had major stomach cramps. I figure that probably played a significant role in my performance.
Today is a rest day. I slept in a bit, as Thursday night's my hubby and I have mini-date nights. We played a board game and ate homemade popcorn with real butter. Super yummy and about 200 calories total for half a batch (which is a ton!) Very satisfying!
Have a great start to your weekend everyone!0 -
Hi all!
Way to go April! and Marla too (and good luck with all the house stress)! Laura is so right, there are many different approaches depending on how good you are at moderation, and just depending on emotional state. Congrats val on those time improvements.
Well, I left the house geared up to run but was devastated when I got out and realized we were inundated with dust! :-( Usually you can see, feel, taste, smell the dust much more closer to the tutor which is closer to the sea (the dust comes in from Africa, across the sea), in which case I can run more towards the center, but today it was even bad up by our neighborhood here in the center. It was so bad! And when I've tried running in it, you can feel it n your lungs! It's so bad. So, since I'd been wondering when I would find the time to go get the special cat food for the cats (which I get way down on my running route, but I never like to stop for it because it cuts my runs short to carry it back), It seemed the perfect chance to get a nice walk to the pet store at least. Of course on the way back, the low cloud ceiling that was holding in all the dust lifted and the air cleared up a lot, but I was already carrying 4 kg of cat food. :-/ So, no run today, but a nice walk and I *think* the weather will be good tomorrow.
Anyway, happy FRIDAY!0 -
Finishing moving furniture and back is feeling it, going for a hike with a friend. Its a pretty easy one but will be good to get out of house, fresh air and with a friend.
Found out pics for house will be taken monday so next two days will be insane getting house back to normal. It is all torn apart to move everything off carpet.
I work Sunday 1/2 day and all day monday so that is there to...happy days!0 -
That's a great thread starter! And so true. Sometimes when I find myself saying something like "I'm only running 8 miles this weekend" I take a moment to wonder who the heck I've become, because I don't even like driving 8 miles in my car.
Great job this week April! Willfully & mindfully is the key. You made yourself a promise, you stuck with that plan, and then you paid it off to yourself at the end (which I think is equally important). And better yet you ate with control when the time came!
Nice workouts yesterday Val! And nice progress on your testing.
I showed up at the gym tired & emotional last night. I ran into one of my gym buddies and we had a great talk, then I had my workout with Jason. He had me laughing in no time, so I walked out of there in a much better mood than I started. Slept pretty well last night until 4:00 am, then woke up & couldn't get back to sleep. My alarm went off at 5:00, I hit the snooze button, and THEN I fell asleep. I got to the gym in time to get in my row & shoulder band exercises anyway before my workout with Jason. I'm determined to be in a better mood today.0 -
Lots of good activities going on.
Valma, sounds like a fun date night to me!
Sherry, sorry your plans were derailed by dust (dud) lol.
Marla, fresh air and chatting with a friend is always a good choice.
Laura, I like your attitude adjustments!
Woke up today feeling so HAPPY that the pizza box was empty (we usually buy 2 pizzas and have leftovers) and that I had what I wanted and then stopped. I've been sleeping late this week and this morning I realized (when I looked at my broken out skin) that moving and finding a new school for the tot is verrry stressful and I might just be needing the sleep. So I'm taking it instead of struggling to wake up or feeling bad for sleeping in.
Having dinner with my dad tonight, I'm ready to order double meat on greens, no rice, no bread!0
