Sherry - I'm so jealous! What a nice and peaceful day you got to have! And an awesome run on top of that!
Laura - I know how you feel! I was so excited to have a year of really good training now that all the bleeding problems are gone. But it had been weeks since I had been able to do a long run, and still hadn't run more than four miles this season. But quitting will make me even slower, so I finally got my head back where it should be.
Got 5 miles in yesterday and it felt glorious! I watched the world wake up as I ran, and saw a beautfiul sunrise. This week is spring break for my kids, so a little less intense for us. I slept in an extra hour this morning, because I don't have to get kids ready or bring them to school. Since oldest child and middle child start at different times, that is two trips to school I'm saved, and I can just shove breakfast in front of them before I head off to my staff meeting. Plan is an hour bike ride, or a little more. Also, the kid I watch is getting picked up early today so I hope to get a bunch of chores done as well!
Have a great day everyone! I'm sleeping in tomorrow and I'm soooooooo excited!0 -
Hope it's a nice Spring Break, val, definitely sounds nice to have a break in the routine.
Today I walked a bit while son ran, then dropped him off and bussed back to our neighborhood to take care of some urgent errands. I then walked past the major hwy crossings (that I remembered--forgot one with a footbridge), soooo tried to do some interval running, which I found to be just about impossible in the city, between street crossings, a bridge, and finally DH calling me. On top of it, my hrm was not giving the expected reading, so either it wasn't quite right or my body is a complete mystery. (How can it be that I can run as fast as I can for ??? meters and my HR barely budges, but when I run as slow as I can for miles, my HR just keeps going up and up and UP!) Anyway, got to the park and kept pushing, trying to get my HR to do something--nada. Finally, fell into a really slow cooldown and THEN my HR started to slowly climb. WTH?!?! Oh well. I'll download to Garmin and have a look later. Will be doing 80/20 with my running (so 80% slow and easy; only 20% pushing harder), so I guess today constitutes part of this week's 20%.
Have a good one!0 -
Val when hubby triggers me I cause drama too...ugh! Anyway house clean and ready for pics with flowers planted in a few pots even. Pretty early hope they don't die but needed at least a few for pics.
I am glad I am working today, want to be away from it all. I have been trying to talk daughter into a spa weekend with me, the daughter that lives 4 hrs from where I am moving, now she is two states away. We are close, so hopefully when this is over we can do that.
God knows I won't want a trip with hubby! lol We may need separate houses after this!0
