Hello all! My name is Lea and I'm 41 years old. Over the past year and a half I put on about 35 lbs. Yes, 3 whole dress sizes. I allowed myself to fall off the wagon, took up a routine of eating poorly and avoiding the gym. Well, I'm back on the wagon and I've now logged into MFP 15 days straight, but I've only lost 2 lbs. Very discouraging, because I wanted to be back in a size 8 by mid-July (Is that unrealistic?) I'm now a size 14. I'm on a 1200 cal diet, adding in 60 minutes of cardio 3 days per week. Any suggestions???

Hi Lea! I'm new to this forum but we are the same age and in a similar boat (gained weight through a pregnancy 2 years ago). I also teach health promotion at a university and see women making weight loss mistakes by trying to starve themselves right away. Your body might not respond well! I wanted to make just a couple of quick suggestions. 1. Lift weights. You need to pick up some weights and start building muscle to charge your metabolism. 2. You are eating too little. You could still eat around 1800-2000 calories and lose weight if you are exercising. You could also try carb cycling to some extent. Try eating less for 3-4 days and then increase your calories one day. Your body might respond really well to this.
After you start exercising, try measuring your waist on the weeks where you don't see the scale budging. You will likely see your waist getting smaller even if you haven't lost much weight. Good luck to you!!!0 -
