Vivifit - good for gym work?

Hi I've just bought a Vivofit (the one without the HRM) and I am wondering whether it is actually going to be good for what I want it for!
I have started training at the gym doing cardio and weights and I want to know how many calories I am burning doing both these things. Will the vivofit tell me this or does it only base it on 'steps'? Or do I need the HRM to give more of an accurate reading when it comes to weights aswell as cardio?
Thanks in advance!

You need the HRM for cardio, but as I understand it, they are not that accurate for weights. I have the Vivofit with the HRM and I love it for cardio.0

The Vivofit is only for useful for tracking daily steps without an HRM. Even with an HRM, the heart rate calculation data is misleading causing many to eat back burned calories based upon a formula that is merely a rough estimate. Don't eat back your calories burned. You'll suffer a stalled weight loss effort and regret it.0
