So hungry

I mean so so hungry.
I stuck to low carb high fat. I was still hungry. I stuck to it (I've just logged my day and still came in under 50g carbs - but well over my maintenance calories). I ate. And I ate. And I ate. And if I'm honest I could eat some more.
So many people here say that this way of eating stops the hunger. But I don't seem to be getting that benefit. I'm trying not to count calories this month - I joined that challenge. But they are there in my diary - and they are red and the number is big!! And I'm freaking out!
I've always been able to eat. I know that. I know that has never helped me in my quest to be thinner! But will someone please convince me that the hunger will go away!!

It can take several weeks to adapt. Some hunger IMO you just need to tough it out. Drink more water, stay busy, etc.0

I had the same feeling at first, I have also been learning more about my body since joining the challenge, and focusing on what my hunger tells me. I am finding that the week before my cycle, I am starving!!!! I ate, and ate and ate like you said, and still lost. I kept my carbs under 40 net But now it is the week after, and I am not nearly as hungry. I know its hard to see the red number, but give the process a chance. If after you give it time its not working, no worries try something else, but you have to give it a little time to know what really works for you and what doesn't0

It is possible that the carbs have prevented your body from acquiring the nutrition it needs to function properly. Now that you are taking away the carbs and providing more fats and protein it may be signalling you that it needs more in order to reverse what has happened previously.
I've been low carb for over 5 months and I have had many days where I've eaten 2000-2300 calories. I eat when I am hungry. This is a marathon, not a sprint and my body needs time to adjust and heal the damage it's been dealt for many years. Give it time.0 -
Eat more fat, drink more water.0

Well, how big is "big!!"? Like, realistically, how much over your estimated TDEE are we talking? And, is this an every single day number, or just a one-off?
I've had some really outrageous days, even when losing. I think I had one day back there that was like 6,000 calories (right in the middle of my weight loss, not one of my recent 4,500 calorie days). I think I didn't lose that week, saw a temporary uptick on the scale, but you'd be hard pressed to find it in the long term graph.
OK, even looking long term, I can see the resultant weight spike. I gained 3 kg (6.6 pounds) from that day. Most of that was certainly water weight, and temporary retention. Looking back at it, I can see that my weight had been falling more steeply than normal up to that point. It almost looks like a temporary correction. And, the weight came right back off. A couple weeks later, I was right back on track. It was as if it never happened.
Edit: Strike that. That's not actually that day at all. I can't even spot it on my weight chart. That spike was from a crazy drinking day where I got hammered and went and ate fries and a burger (after sugared mixed drinks). It was a minimum of 200g of carbs and 4,000 calories. A crazy day. And, it showed on the scale. But, came off quickly. I can't find my 6,000 calorie day.0 -

Thanks guys for the support.
It turns out that I was having a hormonal breakdown (and I swear blind I don't get PMS - so shhhhhuuuussshhh - don't tell anyone).
I was obsessing though - so I've decided not only will I not worry about calories this month - I'm not going to track either, unless I eat something unusual for me and I don't have any idea what the carb count would be. That way I can still control the carbs without (hopefully) going mad!0
