Laura - is it a half or full marathon? I always register for races because they are definitely motivation to keep on getting out there. It's still impressive to see you so dedicated! :)

Sherry - so glad you had a good Easter! It's amazing how nice it is when the kids behave! :).

Marla - What are these fans that are keeping you awake? It all is very frustrating and I wish I had some good advice but I don't. I have a very specific bed time routine I follow that helps to unwind my brain. I go over the calendar and schedules before going to bed so I don't spend time mulling over these things. But it sounds like you've tried all that!

It was definitely nice to have my house back! I spent most of the day getting all my chores done. Most of the laundry is not cleaned and put away, the dishes are clean, the house is back into order. I even got my lower body weight lifting done.
Today I head to the gym to do a tempo ride on the indoor bike. I'll also head back to the Y this afternoon to get a quick swim in. :)

Hope you all have a great day!

I'm doing a full marathon - it will be my first full. There's only one race that's truly local (there are a few others but they're 90+ minutes away from home) so I ran the half last year and am doing the full this year. Last summer my goal was to build up to 20 mile runs (my half was in June so there was a lot of summer left after the race) but my foot issues sidelined that, and instead I was doing 2 mile easy runs.

Val you've been productive! Sounds like a couple of good workouts on the agenda today too.

I'm scheduled to run tonight. Should be nice enough to go outside and I think I'm going to do easy run/walk intervals, just to give my leg a little extra TLC. Then I've got a strength session with Jason. I'm also walking with a friend at lunch today.

    Hey all!

Marla, one suggestion is to have a noisemaker in your room that you get used to, to drown out the orchard fan noise. My parents have these cyclone like air filters in every bedroom and we always cranked it up to the loudest setting for my daughter who was such a light sleeper as a baby/tinytot. You run them on low all day and sleep with them on, and if there will be extra noise, you crank up the setting, but you're already used to them. So much of it's not the hum of a noise, but the "kicking on and off" that wakes people, so a constant hum (that you're used to) can drown that out.

val, hope you have a good workout. I haven't gotten my house back in order from all the Easter chaos yet either. I don't think it'll take me too long though.

Laura, I can't imagine looking down the barrel of a FM in a few weeks/months. I've been debating to try in November but feel like it's too soon to tell if I could pull it together (plus travel in Jun, Jul, Aug might wipe my training out). My problem is just being too slow and thinking I couldn't hack a 5hr run! So I just don't know if I can improve my pace enough by then, to reach a more palatable 4:30ish...all assuming my body could even hack covering THAT much distance. I'll definitely be waiting for your experience on the matter.

Today the kids and I spent the day in the country/beach with inlaws and let DH stay home and have a break. It was nice, but I only walked down to the beach and back and that was it, no exercise, not even my step goal. Easter has wrecked my diet and I hope I can get back on track. We have play dates planned for the next two days, so not sure how I'll get my run, but if I see an opening I'll take it.

If I have an awesome day I'd like to finish in 5:30, but realistically I'm looking at closer to 6 hours considering how my body is doing these days. The timing cutoff is 7 hours so as long as I finish faster than that I'll be okay. If I had to worry about getting faster first, it might not ever happen.

Well if I base off of my regular easy pace, I'm looking at nearly 6hrs, but I like to think I could push myself a bit harder in an actual event since my normal pace is in my easy/aerobic zone. I've noticed I can shave 10min off my 9mi run total, just by running at a "comfortable" pace instead of according to my HR aerobic zone and it was not too tasking at all. But then there's all the stops for calf stretches....I mean, my normal runs are littered with stops to stretch and they take time, but they also freshen me up a bit too I guess. My calves do keep improving and I keep thinking eventually I'll be able to "just run", but so far it hasn't happened. But I like your attitude...maybe I need to just suck it up and try...maybe I'll get faster before, maybe not, but at least just do it. Hmmmmmmmmmm......
