knee injury and travel

I didn't this week cause i've been traveling to switzerland, and my knee went bezerk! I did a heck of a lot of walking though, until my legs were sore, so I don't feel that i will feel too bad tomorrow when i go for a run, but im nervous about my knee. Its my left knee and it hurt all week while walking... this is a pretty common pain i think, how did anyone else deal with it? any good advice? stretches maybe or a hot bath maybe?
