I found this on facebook some time ago and went to dig it up. In case anyone is interested in doing this in addition to your normal routines. I started it today and aim to keep it going along with whatever program Daily Burn sets me up on.0

That's a heck of a challenge! 40 pushups at the end huh? And advanced people should do 3 sets? For my FitStar workout this morning, I did 2 sets of 10 pushups and 2 sets of 20 squats. So I guess that puts me at Day 5 if I get some Leg Lifts in. I'm also going to do another FitStar workout (or maybe 2) this evening so maybe I can get them in then or afterwards if I don't do any during them. Or maybe this is on top of what we are already doing?
A while back, I saw a plank challenge that might be cool to do after this one, or maybe even at the same time. I'll go dig it up and post it later.
I'm looking forward to hear about your Daily Burn experience Rudy!0 -
I'm in! I've been looking for something quick to burn some more calories in the evening, so I'll start this after work tonight. I'll be shocked if I actually progress to the number of pushups listed. I've been working on them the past 10 weeks, and I've gone from being able to barely do 1 modified (ie. 'girly' :P ) pushup to being able to do about 10-11 in a minute - if I do them early in the workout. Soooo, 40 pushups in 30 days? I'm thinking probably not - but I'll give it a try!0
-
Yes, I shamefully admit, I was doing the girly style for the better part of the 10 week BLBC program. I started out struggling to do 5 in the 30 sec sets, so dropped to the knees just to get my strength up. By the end I could do 10-15 regulars for 30 secs. I don't know if I'll make 40 straight, but I'll do them split up if I have to! After Squat Mama and her accomplices, I don't think I'll have a problem with the squat part of the challenge haha.0
-
Hey - no shame in the girly pushups! Lol! At least not until I can do regular ones... I finished Day 1 - the pushups were a little difficult because that Yoga session I did earlier was pretty upper body intensive, so I was a bit tired. Funny enough though, I thought the leg lifts were the hardest! But they do target the abs pretty nicely.0
-
Oh man, after the Iron Lady was done with us, I know I can do the 100 squats now! Well maybe not now but in Week #9 I probably could! Actually, I had to 20 this morning twice and it was a piece of cake so I'm thinking 100 is doable now.
I can barely get 10 regular pushups in before I cave. I do like how the FitStar actually have us do the girly style. I much prefer those!0 -
Did day 2 last night and just finished day 3! Numbers are starting to increase now! Phewwww....0
-
Argh! I forgot to do this last night. I had grocery shopping after work and didn't get home and get everything put away and dinner made until almost 8pm. Although, I did do much more than 15 squats and 5 pushups as part of my regular daily workout yesterday, so all I was missing was the leg lifts... I'll do Days 2 and 3 tonight I guess!0
-
Sometimes it's tough to get workouts in when you got other stuff you gotta do. I had to skip my new morning routine because of stuff and I notice a difference in how I feel. I may just becoming addicted to at least some kind of workout!
I need to remember to do the leg lifts, as I think I do a few but not enough. I'm going to print out the chart above and X out the days to keep on track.0 -
I wish I could get 2 a day in! I am most definitely not a morning person. I get up with *just* enough time to get showered, get my hair done, get dressed, grab breakfast and head out the door. I even pack my lunch, prepare my clothes, decide what's for breakfast the next day, etc - all the night before so I don't have to get up a second earlier than absolutely necessary. It's like a precision military drill! Lol! I decided when I started the BLBC that I had to find something that I would realistically continue, so if I had been required to get up even earlier to workout, I knew I wouldn't succeed. At least not long term. That's why I loved that I could do the workouts in my office at lunch or at home in the evenings. I guesss I could start trying to do a quick 20 minute thing when I get home like you do in the morning. Now that I think of it, I never tried because I was always thinking I had to do a "full" (ie. 30 minutes or more) workout - but no reason I couldn't do something quick in the evening right?
I did Days 2 and 3 tonight Whew - those leg lifts were killer. I did all 35, but I had to do the last 15 in sets of 5 with a brief rest in between... Thanks for sharing this Rudy. I can feel those leg lifts throughout my entire core and that's the area I really think needs the most work!0 -
Yeah, I had no energy left to do them after that killer work out tonight. I'll make day 4 up tomorrow0
-
I'm definitely not a morning person either but that's the advantage of working from home. I don't have to deal with all the getting ready, commuting, and all that. I had a thought that that 20 minute "Good Morning" routine could really be cut in half as there's 2 rounds of it. Either that or put your own routine together with a combination of stretching and easier exercises just to get your energy level up a bit before you start your day. I'm becoming a fan of the "plank to downward dog" move.... it stretches the legs nicely yet gets the core going too. Oh and throw in some of those "cat and cow" and "inchworm" moves too.
About those leg lifts... they are killer indeed! I'm finding that my lower back is getting a bit stressed when I do them so I need to bend my legs a bit while bringing them up. I've had ongoing issues with my lower back, mostly due to dealing with stress at times, so I'm a bit cautious regarding it. I am wondering why that number starts out so strong yet ends up at the same amount as the squats. As a rational, I almost cut my leg raises short to match the squat number but I went ahead and did them all. Whew!0 -
Holy crap, I need to stop skipping....55 leg lifts was a bear! I made up day 4 and did 5 today. I had to split the leg lifts into 4 sets lol. I agree, it does seem to be a lot of leg lifts to begin. My abs need it though!

Thank you Rudy! I was seriously planning to skip tonight and do Days 4 and 5 tomorrow, but thanks to your cautionary tale, I sucked it up and did Day 4 tonight. I had read somewhere before that supposedly you can work your core hard and it supposedly doesn't need the recovery time that other muscles do - perhaps that's the reason for so many leg lifts as opposed to the other exercises? I have a love/hate relationship with those leg lifts! Lol! Using some lingo I learned over at BLBC - I just knocked out those 7 push ups (girly style, of course ) like they were easy-peasy, so that's my NSV for the day!0
-
Oh man...gotta do two today again! I feel off the exercise wagon yesterday. I decided to go shopping for some clothes. Stuck to my healthy diet though. Everyone at work said my clothes were too big, I already got rid of my saggy drawers (underwear, sorry ladies!) and bought some last week lol. I couldn't believe I fit into L (42-44) shirts. Just a few months I was in XXL's! And pants, holy molies...I got into 38's!!! Baby steps, shooting for another 50 lbs by the holidays!
Ok, time to climb back on the wagon.....doing day 6, my work out and then day 7 challenge after (probably have to split some up lol).0 -
Oh my lord that was brutal doing two challenge days and a hard cardio workout!
Scott...ditto on the non-morning person. I used to be when I was in the military. But now, I like the alarm clock not going off until 6:30 and me laying in bed to watch the news and leisurely get ready for work and have some breakfast. Sometimes I make it all the way to midnight before I go to bed and still have over 6 hrs to sleep!
Yes, Kristine...I have heard/read the same. Great NSV!0 -
Ugh - I missed yesterday AND today. I had an appt. after work yesterday and then met my hubby for dinner and got home late. Then today I just forgot earlier and then was out shopping with my sister and didn't get home until midnight. I'm gonna be sorry tomorrow! Lol0
-
I can barely handle doing one day's worth of Leg Lifts so I'm vowing not to miss so I have to make them up later! Although Rudy had a great reason to get off the wagon for just a bit. I bet your daughter had a blast helping you with your updated wardrobe!
Are you guys going to do the challenge on rest days too? I'm treating Sunday as an active rest day and not working out at all but I don't know what to do about the challenge. Do we do days 7, 14, 21, and 28 anyways or pause on Sunday and this Monday would be day 7? I think I'll be active enough to do them but was just curious on what y'all are doing.

I made up Day 5 this morning, I'm about to do Day 6 after I hit 'post' and I was planning to do Day 7 tonight after I get home from a bridal shower I have to go to. I just figured it's not a full workout, and doesn't take a ton of time, so I had planned just to do it every day. I'll check to see what the majority vote is before I do Day 7 tonight though - lol!0
-
I'm about to do mine in a bit in conjunction with my recovery yoga session for DB.0
-
I knocked out Day 8 this evening.. it's a bit easier when you aren't doing any other workout! Even with that, those darn leg lifts are killers.0
-
And day 9 in the books...almost a third of the way through....WE GOT THIS!!!0
-
I must be a day behind. I just did day 8 after making up days 5-6 and then getting current on day 7 yesterday. Well almost - I still owe the 35 leg lifts from yesterday because after I did 60 yesterday to make up for days 5-6 and I just couldn't do any more! I did Jillian's meltdown yoga again for my lunchtime workout today and that works your core pretty hard, so I'm just too toasted to make up 35 more leg lifts tonight! Maybe tomorrow morning...0
-
Yes...I think you all started a day after me. Good work!0
-
I knocked day 9 out... it really helps when there is a rest for the leg lifts!0
-
Day 10 in the books. Doing it after the dance cardio workout, I just couldn't seem to muster all 40 leg lifts in one set. Had to stop at 30 and stretch a bit and take out the last 10. Push ups are starting to get tough for one set. I'm just not strong enough yet. Squats...no challenge!0
-
I made up those 35 leg lifts I never did from Day 7 since we were 'resting' those yesterday, so I'm all caught up for now. I agree Rudy, I feel like I could do squats for days now - especially without additional weight! I'm still just doing the 'girly' push ups - I'm up to 17 in a minute for the DB challenge. Someday soon I'll attempt a real one0
-
Another day down. Honestly I *really* didn't feel like doing this today, but I dreaded having to double up tomorrow more! Lol! In full disclosure, I have never done all the leg lifts in one set - I just can't do it. I do them in sets of 15 with about a 10 second break in between. That wraps up my exercise for the day - 'see' you all tomorrow!0
