So I was always that skinny/lanky kid growing up. And in my 20s and 30s, was still built slim, hard to gain muscle, but could eat whatever i wanted because I worked out enough.
At 40, it was like clockwork that my metabolism slowed down. I'm turning 45 next month so I have tried for hte last 5 years to figure out how to get rid of those 10 lbs that crept up. I think i figured out what works for me.. 25% of my calories are from carbs, 35% from healthy fat, and 40% from protein. I don't feel like I'm in deprivation because I can still have carbs, and the highte fat makes me feel full and lowers my cravings for carbs and sugar (I swear, add a 1/2 an avocado to any meal)
I was able to set up my percentage goals in MFP using the advanced goal sections. But I general rule of thum is 1 g of carbs and 1 g protein each= 4 calories, while 1 g fat =9 calories (again, will calculate in MFP.
Just thought I'd share.. I'm sure it's not for everyone
