Homemade Hummus (from scratch)

Technically speaking, you need a food processor for this recipe. I actually use my Vitamix Professional Series 750 and it worked perfectly.
Ingredients:
3-5 garlic cloves (depending on how strong you want the garlic taste do be.)
2 cups canned garbanzo beans (drained)
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/3 cup tahini (sesame seed paste) - you can buy this pre-made or you can make it yourself at home. All you need is: toasted sesame seeds and olive oil. Here's a good and simple recipe if you decide to do it at home: http://www.daringgourmet.com/2014/05/21/how-to-make-homemade-tahini-paste/
lemon juice from 1-2 lemons (I use 2)
2 tablespoons liquid from the garbanzo beans
a dash of hot sauce (if you like it a tad spicy)
Preparation:
I put everything together in my Vitamix and blend it going from 1 to 10 for 60-90 seconds.
If you are using a food processor, drop the garlic cloves in first. Add the rest of the ingredients to the food processor and process until the hummus is coarsely pureed. Serve with carrots and celery slices instead of pita bread to cut off more than a few calories.

I have a similar recipe but I like to puree it until it is velvety smooth. Makes a great spread for sandwiches too!0
