Exercise cravings

I was itching to go to the gym this morning. No time right now. It's beautiful outside today, and now I'm craving to go out for a run.
Am I the only one who gets exercise cravings?
In theory, your body/brain can create these urges. It's part of the way it manages energy balance, just like hunger signals. Crazy, eh?

I think your body wants all the things you get from exercise. The endorphins from using your muscles, the extra oxygen, the vitamin D, the change of scenery, all of that... I'm glad I haven't hit that stride again yet because my instant sun blistering stuff still isn't under control.0

There is probably some endorphin-seeking involved, but that's also involved in carb cravings (and just about anything else pleasurable).
But this is more of an immediate URGE. You've probably had it too. "Honey, I'm gonna go build a deck now." Or clean the baseboards, etc.0 -

lol That was me yesterday re-screening the porch door. I like to use my bursts of energy around the house; it's really rewarding on so many levels.

I get them. I kind of equate them to the sugar cravings I used to get. Brain says "well, we aren't getting the sugar rush... But we still want the rush....let's workout!" Except today....today we have a migraine and my brain just says "$%# you"0

If I haven't for a few days I must walk. Its almost meditation for me and it doesn't matter if its the trail, the treadmill, or laps around the parking lot.0

I get them. The thing is now since I'm officially only on my 4th day I'm in the weird no mans land of having burned off the glycogen stored in my liver but I'm not yet fat adapted. So my runs have been tough. Not sure how I will knock out 15 miles on Saturday morning. I may just have to run less until I get my mojo back in another week or so.0

Definitely - or rearrange the living room, take out the trash (fiance's chore), cook three dinners so I don't have to cook tomorrow (ALWAYS THIS), put away and wash all the dishes (again, fiance's chore), clear out and reorganize cabinets, empty too big clothes out of my closet, hand-scrub the kitchen floor - yeah, so there!0 -

15 miles? Yeah, definitely back off the exercise if you can. If you need the distance run to keep your marathon training on track, then take it slower. It takes some time beyond the regular fat adaption phase to get fully efficient on fat in things like that. It's doable, but it's like switching running form -- you can't really just go full-speed into the new method, you have to back off and work back up.I was itching to go to the gym this morning. Yep, I do. Sometimes, my husband has to grab me by the shoulders and tell me to stop. Monday last week, I went for like three separate walks (two were required, because I walk my son to/from daycare, though the morning was the optional long one) and did a whole bunch of stuff around the house or whatever. It was a wonder I didn't decide to build a new deck or something (I probably would have, had I had the supplies).0 -
I finally got my run. I went about 10% farther than ever before and still felt fresh at the end (I ran out of trail). I love this diet.0

For me, I have to burn my energy somehow so exercise is a must, I do miss endorphins
Even then, I still do things around the house, weeding, cleaning, cooking. I love it vs. being lazy and sitting on my *kitten* doing nothing in pre-Keto days and feeling more tired. Ugh!0 -
I am embarrassed to say I love going to the gym at work now because they have those big mirrors and I can finally take off my jacket and show off my smaller waist!
*poses in the mirror*
Gawds, I feel vain. Just feels really good to have my figure back a bit and wear the smaller shirts. Now if I can just get my arms to stop being so monstrously flabby like bat wings...
I swear, I'm going to flap my wings and fly away some day.

LOL! I never got that craving before... But, there may be hope for me. I started phase two, that is, I am doing some crossfit training now and hope to get my fitness back and maybe a "hunger" for exercise? Lets hope so,

I get what you mean especially when I'm not at work and moving all the time. I wanna get out!0

Maybe it's a MI thing?
I'm with Dan. I have never had these urges/craving things you all are discussing.
I only work out because I'm told that it will make me healthy.
I prefer to read a book.0 -
I like the idea of physical activity and have dabbled in it a little, but mostly still feel too tired to add it to my daily routine. Might still be from the fibro, etc. because exercise wipes me out even more. I'm hoping to get that energy boost that so many mention!0

Thanks. I will back off a bit. I'm not training for a marathon, it's actually closer to what would normally be a back-off run on a Saturday. I prefer to run farther if possible. I'm not planning on another race until probably October (a 24 hour event) so I have plenty of time. But I do need to ramp it up and start 30 mile and 20 mile back to back runs on weekends. I've never been a high mileage guy, but if I can do that a couple of times a month it will be great. But for now I may just run a few miles. I've not run since Monday I think. Maybe tonight? My legs feel tired just climbing 3 flights of stairs at work! Lol.
