It's sumptuous Sunday! Another hot August day. Not one thing has transpired regarding the front yard. At least nothing has transpired HERE. Hopefully the engineers have been working on a solution but cross an elephant and a rhino and you get the answer. Elefino!

Broken cookies still have no calories, right? Hey, at least I didn't take home any leftover cookies. One of the hosts offered two, unopened boxes of tasty, chocolate chunk cookies, saying, "If you take those home, would you eat them?" I replied that, yes, I WOULD eat them, which was why I wasn't going to take them home! I think they worked out the idea to take them to church (after church coffee) or to work Monday to share. Better than my taking them home!

    Hi Ed!
How rude of me. I didn't read your post, and I didn't post today! I did 'screen free' this morning... I'm sorry!
Tom E. has been helping me...no, unlike your good kitties, he doesn't sit on my lap, and I'm at the table, so he'd better not get on that, what's left? He's been sitting on my back/right shoulder watching me type!!! CRAZY cat! I'm waiting for the temp to drop, and then he and I will go sit on the swing. I will come back in...Tom E will NOT be coming back indoors!

I cannot wait to hear the review on Massaman Curry. There's is/was a Thai place here, Thai Basil... I used to go there years ago, with my realtor who was also one of my night time coworkers at the Red Cross. Food was delicious. I ate a ton of Massaman Curry there! Chunks of potato, big pieces of avocado, and cashew nuts. It was chicken Massaman, but at that time I was over being a vegetarian, (3 years), and ate the SAD diet like the rest of the world. :) I don't go there now, the temptation would be just too great. :(

Ok, I have to do something with this cat. After my typing 'not on the table' he proved me wrong, twice. Only to be swiftly transferred to the floor. Now he's sitting on another dining room chair with his back to me, tail just swishing. I reckon he's mad! LOL!!!

    See you in a bit,
    Valerie

Howdy. It's marvelous Monday! Not a lot on my agenda for today. I did a little bit of shopping yesterday (that took a lottle bit of money) so I am OK on groceries for a minute at least. And I got some nice beef patties with bacon and cheddar built in, on sale in the manager's special (i.e. we need to get rid of this before the sell by date) section. They will each be nice sandwiched between two slices of high fiber, low net-carb bread (two slices is only one carb serving) as something like patty melts.

I might yet see the right side of 200 pounds this year, if I can manage to resist broken cookies. There IS another pool party planned for Labor Day, and I will be making another huge pan of baked beans for it.

Went to Kroger, got the box....will be fixing dinner shortly. I had a late lunch, so late dinner.
I want to save the Corn Chowder recipe, (for later..like fall). And I think I want to try the Rice bread. I think I mentioned, moaned, *kitten*, about Costco no longer selling the Irish Bread that I loved. Grrrr. So, if that means I have to make my own...well...I used to bake quite a bit of bread. Just not in the summer!

I got rain!!! A whopping 0.12 inches! Tom E. was freaked by all the thunder pre-rain drops. So most of my afternoon has been spent snuggling a cat. I live such an exciting life.
I did get laundry done today, and a trip to the gym, and my run to Kroger to get the Massaman Curry....cost me nearly $70 to get out. You know, long ago when it was quite new (at least here in ATL), I used THE only, at the time, Grocery delivery. Go online, order, set a time for delivery, and pay for it. On the appointed day, and time the truck would arrive, my packages would be set on a dolly, and they would wheel it into the house, and put them on the kitchen counter, or where ever you wanted them....(on my table at my house)...I saved a lot of money that way. Everything I ever ordered was correctly delivered, Once they 'gifted' me with a package of really great looking steaks...which I caught the truck and returned...I'd only been Vegan for a fairly short time, and didn't need THAT in my house! The produce was always very good. ie, fresh, unblemished, etc.
I may have to reconsider that in the future.

Hey, Congrats on the weight loss. Under 200 is a great place to be, and as tall as you are, you must be getting quite slim! Happy for you! Weight loss is not easy!!

You can make bread in the Instant Pot.

There's a gluten (but not glutton free) banana bread at the end of this page:

    And here's some more links.

Thanks Ed...I will surely look into these recipe's. I try to be gluten 'aware'. I'm not Celiac, but I do have issues with gluten...like brain fog, etc.

I liked the Massaman Curry. I kept thinking it was missing something, even though I added some avocado and threw in a hand full of cashews...was the sauce not sweet enough? needed more potato? finally...it dawned on me. It was missing the flavors of the CHICKEN!!! LOL! It surely is easy peasy to fix, and that's a big plus, not much to clean up after, I agree with your assessment it is not 2 servings. Yep, I ate the whole thing! And an apple after.

    See you in the morning!

Howdy. It's terrific Tuesday! I have eaten, and I have given the oldest cat her weekly Tuesday shot. She, and the other three, are not yet threatening to eat me but I do need to get them fed by 10:00 at the latest. A bit cooler here today than it has been, with a good chance of afternoon/evening rain. Hopefully I will be able to get an afternoon nap in, since I didn't sleep as well as I would have liked, and the youngest cat insisted it was time to get up a bit before I was really ready. LOL.

    Hey!
Hope you got those kitties fed...or they will start plotting! LOL!
Tom was hungry and appeared off the roof without being called, sometimes numerous times.
I've done about half of my day's exercise, so its 'off to the gym' in just a bit. Jack calls at 4 so I can't wait er, procrastinate too much longer. Ordered some veggie bags that are supposed to help prolong the life of fruits and veggies. They will get here Thursday I think, from Amazon, and I'll let you know. I'm particularly interested in the banana's...if I buy a big bunch I end up eating either over ripe or freezing them...so it this works, then half in a bag, half to eat?? Like I said..we'll see!

Wishing now I had saved about half a cup of the Curry from last night...I've had lunch, but I'm still hungry? wanting something? not sure which. So, I'll decide its wanting something, and go to the gym. Sometimes a good workout will put the thoughts of food on the back burner!

I have GOT to move...and quickly. All my brain wants to do is think up stuff I 'could' eat. I had breakfast, and for lunch a tomato sandwich with a big bunch of sprouts, and a protein shake with blueberries.
Gotta get going....I am NOT hungry. am I???

It's wonderful Wednesday! Not a lot on my Wednesday agenda. One of the cats was "visiting" a lot during the night and purring loudly. Not sure what she wanted, but she seems fine this morning. Maybe she just couldn't get the oldest one to vacate her favorite snoozing spot on the bed. Thinking back to the sad way we finally found out that Roger wasn't really a Christmas tree, this is how I had previously thought he might look:

    9t5o3se87vkm.png

But we finally found he looked like this:

    bmfa80lo7mil.jpg

Put that hat on him and then behind a fence and the resemblance is astounding! I think Roger would have appreciated the comparison.

    Good Morning!
Drinking my coffee, have spent enough time with Tom E. this morning that he vacated my lap, went to the back yard to pee, and then in one single leap was up on the top of the fence and from there a quick hop to his favorite neighborhood watching spot on the roof! I didn't know he could jump that high any more!! Little fooler, I had Jack install two shelves one at the top of the fence, and the other at an angle, about half way 'for the poor old guy', and I'd already put a big styrofoam cooler outside the back yard cat window, cuz he 'seemed' to be unable to hop up thru the window...this was about 3 years ago! Yep, fooled the old lady didn't he?

Gym, and water the plants in pots. Also my potato plant has died back. I will have to check to see if there are any little potatoes one day soon. (not expecting to actually find any. It was just a random experiment without doing any research. I did everything wrong that could be done wrong!) Next Year though!!!!

I'd say your mental image of Roger was really very close. I can't say that I really thought much about his actual physical appearance. Just a fellow who we met thru NS, who was an exercise (walking) fanatic (in a good way), who also had my habit of picking up odd coinage on sidewalks, parking lots, etc. I'd have a good laugh for Roger, were he here to read over my shoulder...my last coin find was a quarter...on my own garage floor!!! Pockets in my gym pants are not overly deep, and I frequently pay cash at the Market next to the gym, as Visa collects a rather stiff fee onto the merchant. So for small amounts..I try to always have cash, resulting in change, which goes in my pocket.......Yep, I found my own quarter! LOL!

Ok, There is a very nice breeze, and I'm gonna take advantage of that and do my outdoor watering, as the mosquitoes get carried right past me on the wind! :)

Oh, I made Colcannon last night for dinner. My Irish grandma (Birdie) would have been proud. Except she would have not been pleased that I didn't use any butter in my mashed potatoes, or that I didn't put a big knob on the finished bowl either. Some things I just don't do Grandma, and butter is one of them!

It's thrilling Thursday! Another hot as *KITTEN* one here in the Atlanta area. I may need to get out to the grocery for an item or two, but nothing has hit critical. Of course I do need to feed the cats.

Howdy. It's fantastic Friday! A little cooler here, but still in the August heat. Some decent chance of rain. I might actually get out today for groceries. We'll see. 204.6 on the scale this morning. Hopefully still inching toward the lower side of 200.

    Good Morning Ed!
I so very much hope that we do get some rain out of this. Parched over here. Maybe if I wash my car??
You're making progress with that scale. Just keep up what you have been doing. (maybe not the broken cookies?) I've looked, and cannot find any good studies that have been done on broken cookies. Oh, well, yes, there were several, but they were paid for by either the cookie industry, or Weight Watchers. All of those said to eat as many as you could find. Dropping an entire package onto the floor from a tall ladder was recommended if broken cookies were not easily found. You know, we could start a business....selling broken cookies! Great diet aid! LOL!!

Shortly off to the gym..and a quick run to Publix. I 'think' that is where I got my can of flea spray for the house. I discovered that the indoor/outdoor carpet on the screened porch was full of the little beggars. So I used the spray that I'd planned to use in the front room. I've not noticed any in here, but not taking any chances.

Looks like we may see a couple of days starting off in the 60's...like 69, but hey, beats 70! ALSO..did you see the bit on the news that WSB has run for 2 days now. FLU SEASON has already begun. WHAT??? Not sure if I want to believe that, or if its just WSB being scarry...like with the 'more copperheads than ever out there this year', or Beware of the Brown Recluse Spiders... Anyhow, it is way early to be worrying about the FLU in my opinion. Will wait til we get lots closer to October 1st before I give that much thought.

Meanwhile, I've eaten, Tom E's eaten, my coffee is getting cooler by the sip...must be time to head for the gym!
OH...one of the late evening kids from PF called me last night. He'd been seeing me on nights when I came in late, and I didn't show yesterday (cuz I was there before noon!) and he called to be sure I was ok. I love those kids! One of the girls who's married to a former PF staffer has decided they are going vegan and I've lent her books, and web sites. She always has questions, and greetings from her hubs!! Its like a huge multi-lingual, multi-generational family! :)
And this 'family' member had best get her *kitten* on the road to the gym!

Howdy. It's satisfying Saturday! Pretty hot but a very good chance for PM Thunderstorms. Not sure if I want to get out for groceries today or not. I will decide after I have my morning pot of Pu-Erh black tea. I am on the second mug (of four) now. The cats are intent on one corner of the room, so must have cornered a summer bug there, though I didn't see anything. Probably under the baseboard, unless they are simply conferring with a ghost.
