    Ha! Great thread Starter!

So far things are going okay with the extra kid. We don't coddle him but he's already used to that since he's with us so much already anyway!

Going to try to do a jog this morning. Keeping it slow and light as I work my way back into it. I have my first race on Sunday. so I'm hoping I can get back to normal quickly!

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

I had a couple paragraphs written when my cat decided to move in and somehow navigated to another page by stepping on the keyboard, and there went my message. She is currently across both of my forearms, which is fine, but she just can't keep her paws off the keyboard for long.

I obviously missed something - Val what extra kid do you have living with you? Hope your run feels good today. Your race Sunday is a sprint tri, correct?

Sherry I hope you were able to get out of bed this morning after your past couple of days of running. Congrats on the 16 miles! Last year I built up to 14 miles before my half, and hoped to build beyond that post-race before my foot issues sidelined me. And now I'm sidelined with my leg issues, whatever they are, so this year isn't looking super likely either.

Marla it sounds like your boss (now former boss) needs to grow up. I worked with a guy like that for 11 years. It was stressful every day wondering which version of him was going to show up that morning. When I switched jobs 3 years ago I walked weekly with the woman who got stuck with him after I left, and we had a lot of talks where she either asked for advice on how to deal with him (after that many years I got fairly good at handling him in all his moods) or just vented at how unreasonable he could be.

Yesterday was a mixed day for me. I started out in a good mood. I decided to make it a rest day, and I still feel like that was the right decision, but as the day went on I got increasingly sad that I was not outside running. It's amazing how much you can want to run when it's strictly prohibited. I don't think anything else that I am allowed to do would have helped mentally, and would have possibly been a bad idea physically, but I was pretty restless by the end of the day. I'm on the fence about whether to work out today. If it wasn't such a long drive to the pool (only one open today is near my office, not my home) I would go swim today, but I don't want to give up an hour of my Sunday sitting in the car when I'm not even sure if I'm going to be able to swim or if that will hurt my leg. I'll hit the pool sometime this upcoming week to see how it feels. I may go to my gym later today and get in some light activity (bike, rowing machine, maybe see how the elliptical feels), or I may just take another day off. It's going to be a busy week.

Haha Laura I have a cat across my forearm too! As if ipad typing isn't hard enough. Lol. It happens a lot and contributes to typos and brief comments. He is old and is always cold so he gets on me to get warm.

Anyway went out for short recovery run but I felt really good and ended up doing nearly 8mi, with the last hilly part being faster than normal and even did a stride at the end. Unfort Garmin data got totally screwed up I guess because of satellite problems. Oh well.

Oh yay, cat left. I can use my arm now.

Val you are incredibly brave to take care of another kid, esp one who doesn't have much structure at home. Sounds like you've got it under control. Good mommying goes a long way with all kids even not your own.

Laura you have to package that feeling about running and tuck it away to take back out when you need it. I do that when I feel like, "meh maybe I'll cut it short today", I remember all those months of itching to run and not being able to and it pushes me. Now i need to do that wrt the gym (although to be fair I'd love to go to the gym but with limited time, runnings been winning the popularity contest lately).

Marla I'll be so happy for you to get out of there. She definitely sounds like a character and not only immature, but possibly she's got some specific problems. When I was younger (like 25 ish) I got to hire an assistant and expected to get a college kid or smthg but I struck gold with a 50smthg lady who had travelled the world with her husbands work and had done different embassy jobs along the way. I couldn't believe my luck! She was a treasure. I ended up putting her on solo projects and encouraging her to learn as much as possible about the company and felt more like she was a partner than an assistant. And when i left that job she moved right up through the ranks. I was very young but didn't act the way your boss does, so I don't think it's a matter of age, just personality.

Okay gotta go prime the kids for bedtime. Seeya!
