Nausea in morning

Hi all. I've been LCHF for just over 2 wks now. Sun. morning noticed was quite nauseous & that continued yesterday & today. Am now sipping chicken boullion to see if that helps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to look at my diary for clues. Have found that switching breakfast & supper around helps my day. Thanks.

I had the same problem at that point after I started. I was told its my body adapting to ketosis. It was not fun but got better. Sipping broth helped me too, until I got sick of it. The feeling will pass, just keep doing what you're doing. I ended up not eating much those days and had no appetite for a while after the nausea passed too. I also found adding more fats helped me, and salty meats, like bacon, salami, bologna, I had an appetite for those so started adding them in and felt much better.
This whole thing seems to go in stages, the next one being better than the first until you are fully adapted. I'm not quite there yet but much better than week two.0 -
You're doing the right thing. Replenish your salt, potassium, and magnesium. Hormones are also whack in the morning. Cortisol spike leads to sugar spike, and depending on your insulin levels, could lead to hypoglycemia if you overcorrect.0

Have you added or changed any vitamins/supplements in the last two weeks?0

I had that too. It sucked because my previous go-to for nausea was bread, crackers, etc. I pushed through with the help of ginger tea. It passed after a week or so.0

;st know that it will pass. I know you were feeling pretty good, but now your body is adjusting. These aren't fun but do get better. It's definitely worth it after you come out on the other side! Hope it passes quickly. Fats and sodium intake improvement helped me!0

Thanks guys. At least I know this is normal, so I'll just keep trudging along.
@SRJennings yes I started taking gummie multivitamins same time I started this. But, now they taste too sweet so I think I'm going to look for something else.0 -
My uneducated opinion from reading here and there and where ever... is multivitamins really aren't all they're cracked up to be That being said, I still take them... just in case. But most people are going to have some pretty strong opinions on vitamins. However, magnesium, calcium and potassium seem to be VERY common supplements people on keto will take seperately. Or with Cal/Mag being together (I take that too). I also STILL have intermittent nauseau two months later, but I don't think I'm keto adapted yet. Although I don't know how you tell if you really are.0

Me either (know if keto adapted). It's all very confusing. MFP says I'm not getting enough iron either. How is that possible with so much meat?
I'm checking with pharmacist tomorrow about magnesium & whether multi is worth it. Hopefully nausea goes away soon.0 -

Remember too, that if it isn't a core ingredient, nutrition labels don't consistently track things like iron, so your levels could be way different than what shows up. That, too, and the fact that your nutrient needs are different at LCHF levels than with the SAD....0 -
believe it or not when I went through the nausea "keto flu" phase I looked it up and they said to eat more fat. I thought was crazy but I felt so terrible that I gave it a shot and it made a big difference. I made a fat shake. full fat coconut milk from a can that had been chilling in the fridge for 24 hours, coconut water, half of a frozen banana, cinnamon, vanilla extract, a little liquid stevia and it made me feel so much better. just look at the carb content and adjust ingredients as you need to. Also, cucumbers with cream cheese and salmon is great. hope you feel better soon!0
