Does anybody use this stroke? Is it easy to learn? It seems kind of counter-intuitive but I like that there is no shoulder rotation. I cannot use the forward or backward crawl because of a shoulder issue but I know I need to switch up my strokes a bit if I can. Right now I am using breast stroke only. My water aerobics instructor (who also is a swimming instructor) told me about this. She had to learn it for one of her private students who was trying to become a Seal and wanted her to perfect his stroke. Not sure if I want to pay for a private lesson.

Yes, if you have the money, pay for lessons if you don't want to join a team with coaching. It's amazing what coaching/lessons can do for your form. (Shoot, at the ripe ole age of 46, I've even learned flip turns!)
I do know the stroke. But whether it is easier or more difficult than other swim techniques? *shrugs* It was easier for ME to learn than a flip turn, but I can't say I ever got fast enough with it that I'd be considered for the SEALs. (For purposes of clarity, I was never a member of any of the US Armed Forces, nor would I ever have been considered for special forces of any sort if I were!)

Funny, I found flip turns so easy I taught myself back in college and I didn't have a YouTube video to watch (I did have Mark Spitz in the Munich Olympics though) but this stroke seems a little hard to coordinate for me. Do you flutter kick twice in between the scissor kicks, or was that just because the guy was going slow so he could demo?
