Hi all! ^my personal reminder to set my May goals today. I've been thinking a lot about them already.
Today is a great "bonus" day because yesterday was a holiday and we got nice and rested already. I'm feeling much better after letting go of a few things that were tormenting me. Took the kids for a walk yesterday, supposedly to pick flowers (May 1 tradition) but they only picked one flower each, haha. There are lots of wild flowers where we live in the heart of the city (at the Acropolis and surrounding sites and forests), so everyone was in our neighborhood for a "volta" (walk) and to pick the wild flowers and make flower wreaths.
DH had a meeting first thing this morning and it's still going. I've been playing with the kids, waiting to see if he'll come home. Guess I'll either take the kids to a playground, or if he shows up maybe a little run.0 -
Sherry - glad things are looking up for you! A lot of times my mood will plummet because of lack of sleep..land then everything that is even remotely bothering me becomes that much worse.
Yesterday I got to take a break while hubby got kids ready for the day. But I still had to go in to do childcare later that morning. My hubby and I agreed I get one morning off a week to help with sanity. I think next week I'll choose Thursday as I don't have anything I have to do that morning. We had a birthday party yesterday and I managed to stay in my calorie count. 2 pieces of
pizza and a piece of cake. I only drank water...not pop. It seemed to work!
Today I'm off to Pilafes, and then I have to get my bike prepped to drop off at my race start. Race is tomorrow, but they are having us drop our bikes off today. Never done that before, should be interesting. Means I have less I have to do tomorrow! Dropping the kids off at my parents, heading to the race meeting and dropping off my bike, and then headed home to pack up the rest of my gear. It's the first Tri of the season for me, so I'm getting a bit nervous. But excited too. I'll try to check in tomorrow as well, but race starts at 6:30 am, and I have to be there at about 5/5:30am. So I might not check in until much later...if I do at all!
Have a great weekend everyone!0 -
Good luck with your race! Can't wait to hear all about it.0

Oh yeah, duh. I need to check in. Did run/walk intervals for 22miles. NOT!!! Lol! Just kidding.
Did walk/run intervals 2.6 miles. I need to work on slowing down so my run portion can be longer each time. Calves are tight, esp the right. I hope I'm doing no the right thing by working on form. I always knew I needed it but some sources say it'll improve with miles, but I think that applies to efficiency changes and I need a full overhaul so I'm not clopping along any more. Anyway, have a good weekend all!

Got hit with heavy allergies yesterday, sneezy, runny nose, claratin worked but sleepy still today. Resting. Did go out last night, had tickets to see Matt Taibbi, he is journalist from Rolling Stone magazine. Good talk and dinner at fav outdoor place by waterfall pond made with boulders. Hard to explain, at eco resort.0

Good luck with the race Val! Hope bike drop-off went smoothly.
Sherry my body right now is a perfect example of why good form matters in running. My doctor threw this out as a theory, but it makes sense to me that my right leg is now injured because I was favoring my left foot (where I had the plantars). I ran for nearly a year with some kind of discomfort in that foot, ranging from tightness to actual pain. Of course that's going to impact my form. When I am healthy enough to run again step #1 is to work on correct mechanics.
Marla that sounds like an amazing place to spend an evening! I love that kind of environment.
Yesterday morning I had my workout with Jason, then work, then went to the pool & tried to swim. Like my attempts at walking and biking, it felt fine for 5-6 minutes and then suddenly hurt. It feels like the hamstring is inflamed or irritated somehow. I ended up quitting mid lap because I didn't even want to swim back that final length. I sat in the sauna for a bit, then showered and drove back to town. I stopped at Walgreens and the grocery store, and that was too much walking on an already pissed off leg.
Was scheduled for 16 miles today, but instead I did laundry and errands this morning and got a tremendous amount done. Birthday party tonight for my niece's husband. His band was playing at a local bar so they had food there for a couple of hours before the band played. I got there around 8:00, the band started at 9:00, and I left about 10:30. I stopped at the gym on the way home and did a mix of very gentle Pilates and yoga, just to move my muscles a bit. I also got my daily rehab exercises done and spent a few minutes on the foam roller.0 -
Gah I'm so envious! Marla that sounds amazing. Like totally chill and right up my alley. And Laura, going out for a live band and nibbles sounds like great fun too! Great weekends girls!0
