They have 20ish grams of carbs and 15ish grams of fiber, so the net carbs are low. Soooooooo do you eat them?

Yes! I love them. Also I'm a fan of phd diet whey low carb bars0

Nope. Processed food. Eat real foods.0
-
I was asking if you eat them.0
-
No ....0

Yuck, yuck, yuck. I succumbed to my curiosity and bought one bar a couple of weeks ago, in my quest, lol to find train-trip worthy snacks.....and yuck ! Why I thought this would be a good thing to try, I'll never know. It is an expensive, unsatisfying, sickening tasting product, too high in carbs....I don't care how much fiber they pretend to put in there that is supposed to negate most of those grams of carbs, it is just not a good thing to eat processed crap. Give me real food any day.0

I ate one once. The cookie dough version. Now I store them in the basement for emergency use only.0
-
I eat them when I'm running out the door and don't have time for a protein shake or a real meal. Like I was in class the other day and heading straight for the gym after class and hadn't eaten since breakfast, so yeah, late afternoon pick-me-up before an hour of kettlebell.0

I love the cashew coconut one, but I believe this stuff is probably accurate, and I haven't had one in about 6 months.0 -
No. Real food gets my macros. I've eaten them in the past and the taste was good.0
-
So for emergencies it wouldn't be the worst thing. But one probably shouldn't eat them on a regular basis. Thanks for the input. I will check the reddit links.0

I use them specifically because I have trouble getting enough protein. I'm not diabetic, so I don't have to worry about the spikes. I have noticed a few flavors have knocked me out of ketosis for a few hours, but not all of them.0
-
No, I don't. We can't buy them here that I know of, but I don't eat any of the equivalents that we can get.0
-
I recently tried them after hearing about them a lot bit. ...Yuk! Like carbonaro and sweetner plus it's way to high protein against fat for my liking!

*sorry that should read cardboard not carbonaro!!! Lol. Predictive text got me again!!*0

Used to. Now the sight of them makes me queasy.0

Yes we do. Although I make my own so I know what is going into them. Vitafiber syrup, protein powder, and almond flour with whatever flavoring I want the bars to be. A lot cheaper than buying them. Hubby loves them to have as a snack at his desk.0

I have never had one, but I do have some other brand of protein bar knocking around in my purse since I started this WOE as a "just in case" backup. But, really, on this WOE, I don't get oh-my-god-i-can't-take-it-any-longer hungry, so those "emergencies" just don't happen. If there's nothing suitable to eat (which is rare), I just have some water or coffee or something and wait until there is something that fits my macros.0

I did buy some Atkins bars once thinking they would satisfy my sweet tooth, but I just didn't enjoy them. They weren't worth it, in terms of the cost or my satisfaction or my health. I'm guessing I would feel much the same way about Quest bars.0

Quest bars is one thing I cut out to go low carb so no I do not now eat them. I would eat one if left with no better choice than eating processed food. I tend to compute carbs from gross carbs and let the fiber offset hidden carbs.
To pick up on what Mami1976D said about getting hungry yesterday I got down the church where we are putting in some drains at 8 am to be there when the road department showed up which was 11 am. I was digging with the backhoe all day and it was 6 pm before I went back to the house and ate any food. I did have water with me.
I was getting weak but still was not hungry in the sense I would have been when I was living on carbs.
Since I was a hard core carb addict for 40 years I may be more anti processed food than many of you that had not about killed yourself on carbs at this point in time like I have.0 -
No I don't eat them. When I first tried this WOE people would recommend packaged foods. I avoided it for awhile but then decided I should try them. Next thing I know I'm eating only Atkins bars and protein shakes. This time around I bought a few sugar free fake foods. I've maybe used them 5 times in 5 months. Real food, less hunger.0

I eat the Cookies N Creme one in the morning for breakfast. I heat it in the microwave for 20 seconds. It satisfies me and gets me moving. I'm not on a super strict low carb regimen though. I try to let it be my only processed food daily.0
-
I eat one rarely... you need to microwave them for about 10 seconds for the best flavor. I also have Atkins bars and shakes that occasionally make it into my day ... but ... I usually prefer real, whole foods...0

I eat them on occasion after weightlifting. I have had no issues with them, though I am not diabetic. All of those that are telling you to "eat real food" must not realize that almost all food is "processed" in some way. Do you not eat bacon, or beef, or cheese, or.....please, let's keep the shaming to a minimum.0

It is true if bacon does not squeal when you bite it then it has been processed so to speak.
I try to use the three ingredient rule to defined processed food. Peanut butter that contains peanuts and salt I consider unprocessed but I know it has been ground and salt was added. Peanut butter with four or more ingredients I call a processed food.
Just because I stay away from Quest bars does not mean they are not fine for others. I eat LCHF for pain management since it works so well. Getting the body fat out of all the wrong places is a plus even if the weight stays the same.
Young people can eat most anything as I did but at 64 I realize personally I paid a high price for doing so. The sad part I would have never called myself addicted to carbs. Clearly I was due to the results of going off of them cold turkey. It was a very hard two weeks then the addiction quickly faded and the sugar crashes.
An eating lifestyle does not have to become a religion as often is the case based on some posts. Now that I am clean of my carb addiction they must do not taste good anymore and I for sure would not want to mess around and restart that addiction. I get knocked out of ketosis from time to time for maybe several hours but I do not fret over that.
Itsjustdawn just asked if we do or we do not. They are much better than most any snack I ever ate until 8 months ago for sure. I think I may be getting addicted to celery which is not normal for me.

I've never tried one, though I used to eat the EAS bars. Seems to be a wide range of opinion on the whole thing.0

You're not wrong. I think this lacks more tact than pretty much anything anyone else said, but you're not wrong. At least about the first part. I should have been more honest and less lazy about my response. Or maybe I should have been more lazy.
I don't eat quest bars and for the most part I avoid foods with fake sugar. I eat animals and cheese. In addition to cheese I eat sour cream, heavy cream and butter. This week I've started drinking unsweetened almond milk. I eat coconut oil. I eat eggs. I eat cauliflower. I think that's about it. Oh and 100% cacao and pork rinds, but not together.
I don't judge people that eat Quest bars or any meal replacement. I don't like the taste of fake sugar and it makes me crave real sugar. Speaking of craving real sugar. Sometimes I cheat. Sometimes I cheat in my macros, sometimes I kick myself out of ketosis. Today I had peanut butter. Yesterday I actually cheated and had cheese curds because I can't really function if I don't have a cheese curd once a month. A whopping 27 grams of carbs. But I did it.
Point is. Do what is best for you and what you feel comfortable doing. There's no shame in that. Then, if you get sick of that, do something that isn't super good for you. Your body, your choices. No shame.

I try to make things simple for my kid: if you can't figure out where it came from, don't eat it. Not a judgement, just a simple rule of thumb that I hope she can remember. My favorite food is highly processed: chocolate!0

I actually never thought of it that way. I mean, I get what those people are saying, but I like what you're saying better.
