How does it know?

I have C25K synced to MFP & it logs my exercise into my diary when I'm done. It says I ran an 11 minute mile, which I don't think is true. How does it know how fast I go? Does the app use gps or is it an estimate? It seems like it's saying I'm going faster than I am.

The app I use uses GPS. It doesn't tell my min/mile when it logs it, though.

I use this app. If it's the same app you use, it does track pace/distance with GPS. :)

Ignore MFP speeds, they are a load of bollocks.
It has a few set speeds for the calorie burns, which it will then chose the closest one.

I used to do a 2-3hr trail run, that fell outside MFP's speed options, so I would get told I was running on the spot for 150minutes or something ridiculous like that.

I don't think it's incredibly accurate, friday I ran w1d3 and it said i burned 163 cal today i ran w2d3 made ran futher and it says I burned 123 cal. I don't eat my exercise cal I like the send it from my app just to track when I run.
