Weigh IN Sunday

You can either list your actual weight, how much it changed (hopefully for the better), and/or percentage. It's up to you so do whatever makes you comfortable. Feel free to post any other real wins for the week like NSV or whatever you feel like sharing.

Well I gained .1. Not bad since I didn't workout like I normally do. I am afraid of slaking off when I am off this summer. Also being home is hard with the food, I tend to go out alot with friends for lunch.

Well I'm up 0.8 yet again! I haven't had a drop on the scale in about a month. I haven't worked out the past three days and I ended up pigging out on pizza last night after a long day. So I'm going to rest and maybe do some easy stretching today and rededicate myself on Monday. My epic hike is in 5 weeks and I gotta bust my butt to get more ready for it.

I was down 1.4 this week. Considering I was up .6 last week, that's only .7/week over the last two weeks - for a total of 13.8 lbs over 14 weeks - but I'll take it! If I can lose 3.2 lbs in the next few weeks, I'll finally hit my 10% since I started. My goal is to get there before we leave for our trip out West in five weeks.

I had a bad day Saturday because we had a big picnic for my brother-in-law's birthday. Although, I did make sure I made chicken, salad, and fruit salad so that there would be healthy options there too. The 'grazing' and the Redd's Apple Ale added more calories than I cared for though.

I was thinking that perhaps it would 'catch up with me' as Scott had mentioned in regards to his pizza night. But should we really expect that? When I take a look at the past week, at my calories in/calories out overall - I was still in a big deficit. Actually, based solely on CICO, my deficit was almost 11k calories! I should have lost, if we were just doing the 'math' (@ 3500 calories/lb) 3.1 lbs, even with the bad day. I really like that I can look at my total calorie burn and my total calories eaten between Fitbit and MFP. Looking back over the past 30 days, it seems like my body pretty consistently requires a 7000 calorie deficit to lose a pound! Lol! So either I'm an oddball where that's concerned, or I'm over estimating my calories burned through exercise, or underestimating my calories in (or maybe a bit of both!). Although, I'd have to be off by 50%, which doesn't seem likely...

Little gains like we all have seen over the past few weeks though, could be due to a number of things - water weight, most likely. Keep up those positive attitudes, keep putting in the work because we can do this! We'll get there eventually as long as we don't quit.

That's awesome Kristine! You'll get that 10% soon.. maybe even before you're trip. Seem that I do not remember details on your trip? Where out West are you going to visit?

Well they did say in the BLBC that we tend to underestimate the amount of calories we eat and overestimate the number of calories we burn. MFP does help with the calorie content of food but I probably think I eat 1 serving and put that in and perhaps, it's really 1.5 to 2 servings. As far as exercise goes, you probably need a heart rate monitor and accompanying app to track your burn to really be accurate. Plus there's all kinds of studies out there and say that the type of foods you eat matter and it's just not total amount of calories (where others do argue that calories are calories), and yet others that say if you don't eat enough, your body goes into starvation mode and doesn't burn as many calories as usual and maybe some other person's "usual" is way different than the normal "usual". So who really knows but it looks like you've been doing some serious number crunching so at least you got a feel for how things are working (or not working as the case may be) for you.

BTW, I lost that 0.8 pounds so I'm back to where I was last week and I'm definitely not quitting! Oh I decided that I'm going to weight myself everyday for a while instead of once a week just to get a feel for how much my weight fluctuates throughout the week.

For myself weighing everyday would frustrate me in seeing the weight go up and down.

Looks like the daily weigh-in is a positive for you so far Scott! :) I see you've been down 2 days in a row now - so that's great! Personally, I like checking daily because I don't really get too frustrated by small gains or staying the same and it takes the element of surprise away. I would be way more frustrated on Sunday morning, climbing on the scale and not knowing what to expect - but expecting a great result anyway because Hey! I was pretty good this week and worked my butt off - only to find that I'd gained or stayed the same. I'd rather be prepared and have seen the up/down fluctuations that happened each day. Different strokes! ;) You gotta do what works for you.

Yeah - I'm sure I do underestimate calories in at times. I've read where people here on MFP weigh everything that isn't liquid in grams instead of measuring by the cup/Tbsp/tsp etc. because it's more accurate. I do weigh some things - but not all. I figured it's not like I'm trying to get down to 5% body fat or something - I just wanna lose 20 more lbs, so I shouldn't need to be that precise! Lol! I'm getting a new Samsung Galaxy S6 this week and it is supposed to be able to do heart rate measurement - so I'll have to see if that can help at all with more accurately determining my exercise calorie burn. I'm not sure whether CICO is right, or if there is more merit to the other theories about the types of food you eat, or when you eat, etc... - but hey, I'm an I.T. person, so collecting and analyzing the data appeals to me! Ha ha! :P

I'm headed to Montana, South Dakota, and Wyoming for two glorious weeks at the end of June. :) First time I've ever taken 2 weeks of vacation at once. We'll drive from here in SW PA and make pit stops along the way. We'll stop in Red Lodge, and probably stop at Mt. Rushmore (and surrounding area), then to Yellowstone for a day or two, over to the Grand Tetons for a day, and then hit some places like Buffalo and Cody, WY. and surrounding areas. I've never been to any of those states previously - so I'm really looking forward to it!

Yeah Kristine.... down 1 pound one day and up 1 pound the next. Wooohooo let the roller coaster ride begin! I like checking more often than once a week as well, so I'm pretty much like Kristine.

I'm not an IT person so I don't weigh or measure anything. I go with approximation of serving sizes (size of your fist is about a serving of meat, etc) so that's why I'm probably off on my tracking.

You're trip sounds like fun Kristine! I haven't been to any of the places you've mentioned but Rushmore, Tetons, and Yellowstone are definitely on my list. I have a couple weddings to attend, one in Vegas and one in NM two weekends apart in July and I'm thinking about turning it into a 2 1/2 week roadtrip. I'll definitely be going off the diet when I hit NM and I can't wait to enjoy the food I grew up with. I'll have to work in some extra workouts then!
