Hi! I joined this group in 2012. Probably as a lurker, but I picked up a lot of tips. I lost 50 lbs between April 2012 and Sept of that year. I was completely addicted to logging. It was sustainable, i took up running, etc. Everything was working as it should. Then life happened. I had a heath thing pop up that turned out to be something really silly and correctable but it made me crazy for a little while. No need to bore you with the details on that but once it was straightened out i found out i was pregnant with my first (and only) child. Didn't do much that whole pregnancy since i stayed sick the whole time, developed pre-eclampcia and ended up with a csection and pulmonary edema from the 40 pounds of fluid that built up. So here i am, about where i started, a little less, trying to start over. Its just not as easy this time. I know stress plays a role in it, but I'm not sure how much. And I'm not sure I've slept a whole night in like 2 years, that can't help but he's just now at 18 months starting to sleep through the night some. Anyway...

My stats as much as I hate to write them for the world to see...

Weight 225
Height 5'4"
Desk job, one 18 month old boy.
I'm 38
Scooby says my BMR is 1749 TDEE is 2099 and a 15% cut is 1784

last time i started at a higher weight and around those calories and only lowered it down to maybe 1640 at around 190lbs and was still losing. I always kept it lightly active before and ate back my exercise calories (running with a HR monitor) and i usually lost more than the numbers said i would. I have a spreadsheet somewhere with all the details because I'm a geek like that.

But it's not working as easily this time. Can a couple of years really make that much difference? I lost 4 pounds in the first week, which I assume was only water/storage, but nothing sense.

Anyway, I'm sticking with it but I just wondered if my numbers looked right to everyone or if I'm missing something obvious? I could tighten up a little with weighing food, etc. I've pretty much went back to the portions and foods I ate before but i could be better with accuracy maybe. Its been about 2 weeks since the 4 lb loss and nothing else. No gain though. Thoughts?

the spreadsheets stats say BMR 1685, TDEE 2107 cut 1791- so pretty close, but I left it lightly active and didn't count my kid?

A stressed out body and older - sure that can make a difference.
More life stresses are probably in there too.

So you are logging exercise calories and eating them back, and picking the activity level for daily life?

Why not just use MFP the way it's designed to be used then - exactly the way you are doing it?

Merely have to pick a reasonable weight loss goal, which appears to be about 250 calories.

Except - you picked sedentary - and be honest - you are not with a kid. Sorry.

Use Lightly Active on MFP. 2449 TDEE with no exercise.

Set weight loss goal to 1/2 lb weekly. 1949 eating goal with no exercise.

Change macros to what you need, but leave the calories alone.

You have the range (since 15% of higher number is actually 367 deficit and you are only getting 250) to leave 100 calories in the green each day and still be at 15%.

When you exercise, log it, less the same 15% of the HRM calories.

Meet your changing daily goal. Well, with 100 in the green.

Wow, so really upping my calories, even though I seem to not be doing much where I am should help?

I'm not really doing much in the way of logable exercise ATM. I used my treadmill before and I'm not finding time to do it now. Since it would wake the toddler when he's asleep. Looking into maybe joining a gym at lunch tho.

As a mom, we burn more than we think we do! At least that's what I am learning!! Try it for four weeks and see what happens! Best of luck!!
