I was thinking today how cool it would be to have some form of online coaching - someone to look at my daily diary, suggest tweaks and tips and be on hand to make me accountable.

Has anyone tried anything like that? Or is it just a waste of money and would I be better off just using the site and you lovely people for the same purposes?

I had a nutrition coach for a month. Paid $120. Quite honestly, I get as much, if not MORE out of my friends on MFP and the forums.

Whether or not coaching is effective depends a great deal on what your needs are and how well the particular coach is able to meet those needs.

Coaches differ in that some of them go in depth and build a relationship with you and consider your circumstances and immediate needs when they work with you, and others quite literally hand out template workouts and even template diets (meal plans) with very little personal investment in your success.

I got all of my "coaching" from the great group here on mfp! Some of us will view each other's diary and comment on it to help each other and give the support that mfp was created for. I wouldn't pay anyone for that, personally.

I'd suggest more of a 'buddy' system, similar to sponsors and sponsees in recovery programs. Find someone who you think leads a LCHF lifestyle that you want to emulate, and also importantly is a personality you think you could mesh with and allow to guide you, and ask if they'll help you find the same success.
