Totally ate more Carb than I meant to...

Wedding on saturday, and I ate a bit more carbs than normal - but I knew I was doing that. But they were decent carbs, for the most part, no chips or pretzels, no chocolate fountain, no cake, no alcohol, no pop, no rolls... I avoided all that stuff. It was the chili that did me in though
But then yesterday I was all geared up to get back on track, and so I took a new snack to my gaming group - zucchini doritos - and they were awesome! Only, I made the mistake of logging the recipe *after* eating them, and found out that the nutritional information in the recipe on the website I got it from was WAY lower than what the site calculated, which ended up putting me over my carbs *again*
So, I won't be making that mistake again! I'll be adding the recipe ahead of time from now on to make sure I don't 'over indulge' by mistake! Baker beware!

Ha, yeah. I've been there. It's always a bit of an oops!0

Wait... what... zucchini Doritos???0

I just did the same thing! I'm glad I'm not the only one.0

Yup, I did that a few times in the early days. That's why we have tomorrow, so it can be a new day to start again. It happens - you've made huge improvements already, so think about the great work you have done, be happy, and enjoy making tomorrow even better *hug*0

Creeping back down on the 2lbs jump the weekend resulted in - why does it come back twice as fast as it goes?!0

Happened to me this weekend, too. We made a recipe that turned out to have almost 10g of sugar per serving! That's more than I've had in almost two weeks. I got lightheaded and dizzy from it, as though I were tipsy! I logged the recipe but hadn't been worried about it so I didn't look closely. It was a great recipe but I will have to amend some parts of it next time.0

YUP!! I actually had pizza AND chocolate yesterday ....fell off the wagon after 1 full week of eating 40-80 carbs a day.......it's ok though I'm back on the wagon again today....but I do feel 'blah' and tired.
How did you feel after a carb load and did it completely kick you off your course?

I actually just posted about this...here I did great at combating the donut craving I've been having non stop, only to totally binge on pizza and icecream on Sunday night. I felt icky the next day, however the terrible feelings of guilt surpassed any physical ailments. Still beating myself up over it, especially since mine wasn't accidental like others mentioned above...I'm afraid to see the scale repercussions...I'm staying at friends watching their dogs for awhile, but I'm popping home to get some things this evening...my scale being one of them, we shall see how bad my slip up is.0

Oh don't feel bad @nikoba , mine wasn't 'accidental' either. In one week of starting LC i lost 4 kilos (I'm sure most water weight)... and then I had pizza and chocolate yesterday....but I don't feel 'bad'...I'm human Just learn to forgive yourself and keep going, I think the worst we can do is punish ourselves and then feel guilty and sad....as long as we get back on the saddle the next day, bumps like this will happen, hopefully not often at all, but they will happen so the best thing we can do is keep going!
I'm not going to lie though, I feel yucky, and all swollen, even my feet and my 'face'. I like how I looked two days ago more, so I'm going to try going back to that look again

Oh the headaches!! I seem to keep forgetting that I am insulin resistant and this carb crap is killing me!!0

I look at those as reminder days.0

Thank you for the more positive perspective...I just so badly want to succeed at this. It's especially frustrating to have a slip up like this when I know first hand what happens when you start carb loading. I was successful at losing weight on lc a few years ago and gained it all back...I refuse to repeat history and this weekend kind of scared me.0

I think once in a while, in moderation it's ok. To think you will never eat pizza again, never ever, I think would be a bit extreme. Maybe some people don't, but I think the great majority of the population that is trying to lose weight enjoys these type of these once in a while..... well at least that's what I'm planning to do.

I've been off the wagon for a few days as well, because of parties, meals out etc. I am not confident enough to just tell other people how I am trying to eat and I have hang-ups from when I had to clear my plate as a child so that when people tell me to eat I just do... Not doing the same to my kids! And I've got my meals planned for the next few days so I'm back on it tomorrow!0

Felt sick and headachey today, but I think it's a mild keto flu as I go back into ketosis, so I didn't mind too much. Ate some salty sunflower seeds and felt much better. I'm already down 1 of the 2 lbs I put on over the weekend - totally all water weight. I could see the difference in how much water I was retaining after eating the carbs by how my rings, that had become loose on my fingers, we're tight, not to mention my fingers felt like sausages! But I'm happy to report that I have had no trouble getting back on track and am already back in the habit of eating LCHF0

Those recipes get me too. I look at them, say, "Oh, all those ingredients are acceptable foods!", make the recipe, then log it. That's how I ended up with a 10.7 NET carbs (19.7 total carbs!!!!) peanut butter chocolate mousse this weekend. It was oh so worth it, and I had initially doubled the recipe so hubby could have some, but he didn't want it and I ate it all. The next time I made half. Still higher in carbs than I'd intended, but oh so yummy, and I'm still losing, so it can't be too bad.
Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and resolve to do better from that moment forward. "Cheats" don't have to lead to guilt.0 -

I can get all the yummy goodness from pizza in making my own or in only eating the toppings. I don't need all that bread, so I suppose it depends on one's perspective. Also, having something one day and going back to normal the next is how we survive the blips of life.0 -
I planned to eat more carbs today, and had no worries about it. I refuse to feel shame or regret. It's my daughter's birthday and we went out to eat and had a great day. Tomorrow is another day. Each day we have a chance to evaluate the choices we make and perhaps revise them the next day. I feel such peace and such strength and such commitment to continue, that I know I will succeed...whether I chose to avoid carbs at all cost or whether I choose to have a treat within reason every month or two. We have the ability to move on each day, and it's a wonderful feeling of control.0

Yeah, I'm not bothering with feeling guilty - this was more of an annoyance because it was unplanned. Last time I did low carb I did great until I let myself cheat - and saw how little that cheat affected me which led to more cheats and then the slippery slope to gaining it all back + the bonus 25lbs. Not going to let that happen this time. But it's been a completely different experience and mind set this time, and I have no doubt that I'm going to succeed Sooner rather than later would be preferred of course0

It's definitely different when it's unintentional and you can just be mad that things worked out differently than you expected. That's way different from making a less-than-stellar choice.0

I'm pretty hard on myself in many facets of life, so it can be difficult for me to climb out of a shame spiral. One thing that's been working for me is thinking of all this as a learning experience. Yesterday marked a month of LC eating, so its still early in the game. But everyones positive and realistic advice and perspective has been awesome and appreciated.0

Guilt is worse for your health than just about every other thing out there, in my opinion!0
