Argh! Well, holiday weekend and all. However, I'm happy to report that even though I gained a pound, I lost 1/2 inch off my waist! I cut back on cardio, replaced it with HIIT and heavy weight lifting. It seems like I'm a bit leaner. Changing things up periodically works pretty well for me. If I was more strict with my food, I might do even better.

Sarah, it's really hard to stay motivated at all, but when you're sick and stressed (AND loved ones are sick too :/ ) it's nearly impossible. Priority one is to get feeling better. Like Dr. Phil likes to say, "You can't give away what you don't have." I'm sending feel better vibes and thoughts your way. Don't think about weight loss until you (and hubby) feel better. <3

OK...FOURTH attempt since yesterday to post. As you can see, not great. Having some stressful challenges in life and work and it seems to be sapping my focus. The long weekend was great and was only the culprit of 1 lb. On Friday I was at 186.0 so go figure.

At any rate, in an effort to help me get out of my funk...with my bff who was visiting from Cali, we did some retail therapy at UNDER ARMOUR!!! OMG I got four capris, three shorts and six tops that are just going to make me look and feel HOT for my workouts!! LMAO. Yes they are cute, however I couldn't pass up 40% plus and additional 15% discount on stuff I use daily. He on the other hand, shopped and bought at other stores...me? I'm a UA girl (they allow for my big biceps in their shirts - LOVE that - Nike and Addidas pinch). At any rate, from a pre weekend mail order and TWO, yes TWO trips to the store, I need to make yet one more run down there to return a few things. I didn't try stuff on and then I spent time looking at what I already had and dwindle it down some. In the workout world, I'm a very happy gal. Now...how to get my office team back on track and reduce my stress....THAT is the big question! I need my stress levels back where they are normally.

I had my annual physical just over a week ago and the bloodwork on Friday. BP was considerably high given that I am already on a beta blocker and not in pain from injury or migraine, so he wants to see me in 90 days to check again to see if we need to adjust the meds. stress and genetics are the concern. EKG read was similar to last year so not freaking him out. I just received a message from the dr office on my labwork and the message says "Dr. F reviewed the labs and he thinks they are all GREAT continue doing what you're doing". So I'm picking up the actual labwork results tomorrow morning. I have last year's and want to see the comparison.

We celebrated my MIL's 80th bday on Sunday with our friends and we had a fabulous time. So much food (actually other than the three bday cakes my friend made for mom - at mom's request), our table was on the healthy side. Unsauced ribs, a grilled beef tenderloin and chicken breast. Salads were all healthy choices as well with fresh fruit. I was so full from the "food" that when it came time for the cake, I literally had a bite of each and then another friend finished my plate. We only ate once on Sunday. Everyone came back on Monday and we finished most of the food - and NO ONE HAD TO COOK AGAIN! It was awesome.

Sarah - I'm with you with the stress levels right now. I can totally relate. And what I've been telling myself over and over is I can't allow too much energy on things beyond my control. It's not totally working, but it does calm me down when I remember. When I forget, it goes through the roof. Sending positive vibes your way.

Sheesh - congrats girl!! and why are you not in this week's workweek hustle?!?!!?!?

You know that rut that I've been in? Well, I should decorate it! This morning, I once again weighed--wait for it--145 pounds. On the nose. So I guess the good news is that being sick and inactive did not result in a gain, but the bad news is that I'm still coasting. Today, for the first time in a week, I feel a glimmer of hope that recovery is at hand. I don't feel normal, but I don't have that "got to lie down" feeling all the time either. Progress!

Hubby is still feeling poorly, but is mobile and working. My walking partner has also had some health challenges, and I'm really missing her. Just before this, she had 3 college pals for an extended visit, so all in all, it has been about two weeks since we were able to get together. I burn more calories walking with her than with anyone else, so I'm hoping that she'll rally soon.

I'm edging ever closer to a FitBit. I thought about going by Sports Authority last night on my way to Fed Ex, but yesterday was a killer day at work, and I got a late start. It was one of those days where everything I touched turned to--you know!

Yesterday morning, I couldn't get a spreadsheet formatted and spent 4 hours doing something that should take less than 1hour, so I had to log back on and work a short time last night. After work, I watered the flowers out front and somehow didn't get the hose turned off properly and flooded the garage. And even though I only used my home computer to check e-mail yesterday, when I dashed upstairs to log dinner on the BodyMedia site, I found that I somehow got some malware that hijacks your browser. Oh, and I put some onion down the disposal and the darned thing started screeching like a wounded animal, so the plumber is coming Friday!

It all sounds sort of Lucy Ricardo-ish in retrospect, but I was happy to call it a night last night and I'm ever grateful for the little bit of extra energy today. Perhaps it's from all those good vibes you're sending my way, so keep 'em coming!

Another hot, muggy Sunday morning, and I have been reflecting on where I am in my weight/activity and why. More important, I'm thinking about what I'm willing to do.

There has been a number of things going on that have just sapped my energy and left me often somewhere between sad and angry--not a spot that safe for me linger in, and not a spot where I want to stay.

As you guys know, a while back, my arm band for my BodyMedia Core broke and because my unit was a couple of months past its warranty, I could not order another. (They're phasing out the Core.) I did find a small band online, but it was too tight and it broke within a couple of weeks in the same spot as the medium one. So I used packing tape to repair the medium band until it finally broke in second spot, and then I did the tape repair on the small one and just put up with the tightness. But now the weather makes wearing sleeves to cover the armband uncomfortable, and a way-too-tight band held together with tape on an aging upper arm is uglier than even I (with my usual, devil may care attitude) can abide, so I have not tracked activity for several days. And not surprisingly, my weight is edging up.

I am not sure yet what the overall plan will be. Stay tuned. I also hope that we can get the group a little more active on this board, too, as I'm feeling a bit out of touch with fewer posts here and my walking buddy out of commission for a time.

On a happier note, my contract was renewed on Friday, so I'm still employed. (My cranky side says, "Oh great, I get to work crazy hours for another year." My grateful side says, "Another year of doing something that helps people and I get to work from home!")

Also, on a positive note, the pool is open, and I'm able to enjoy some time on the weekends with my pool friends--who are also my baseball friends. Go Nats!!

I believe several of you ladies are wearing a fitbit charge. I have an very small wrist, as I'm sure some of you do, too, given our short stature. Any issues with that?

I LOVE the Fitbit Charge HR. Being 5'2" I still needed a LARGE band...as my bones are thick and has nothing to do with my height. I guess I was blessed with shortness, but not quite the petiteness of a tiny wrist (even at 125 i could barely find a ladies watch that fit). Sarah - join us with the FitBit. We've been on it for over two years. and with the Charge HR, it does the HR so the calorie burn is more accurate and you can still use the bodymedia deficit to help you along. PLUS the challenge and interaction we have with the FitBit may just re-energize you!!! And congrats on your new contract! One stressful item off of your plate!

Hubby's battery died and we had to have it towed to the dealer (,may be alternator or other sensor), so rough start and forgot to weigh in. I'll weigh in tomorrow and post again. Hope all is going well with everyone
