I decided that in June it might be interesting to start on this trail across the country! At the pace I walk, it will take me the rest of my life to get from coast to coast, but a few of you could reach it this summer! I am going to spend the rest of last two days of the month looking at the wealth of information on this site, and start the walk June 1. Anyone care to participate?

I just looked this over. Sounds interesting. But I will probes unwed some help. One of the options was a tenth of the actual miles. Don't quite understand all the parameters of it yet.

I don't either Vicky but I am not the most computer literate person around here. We might have to see if we can get retirehappy interested lol

It's an interesting concept, but it seems a little awkward, because (from what I can gather) you have to log everything by hand on a chart that you print out. ???

As for the printable map... unless there's a larger version, printing it out and coloring it in doesn't seem possible?

It'd be more FUN to buy a REAL map of a place, pin it to the wall and chart progress on that. Or am I overthinking this...

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, but when something takes up too much time, it's not for me. I have too many other projects. Not to mention the time I'm supposed to be spending exercising. And I'd just misplace the paper chart... ROFLMAO

Anyway. It's a great idea for goal setting-let us know how it goes. B)

I took a look at it and it's a very cool idea but, what with logging here on MFP, maintaining my own personal food diary, and logging miles for the bike challenge ... I don't think I can add any more logging! :o Always good to know about these options, though -maybe that would be good for off-season from biking! ~ Kathy

Exactly. I'm tracking food, my blood sugar, exercise.... ;)

Remember that old joke? "Grandma wanted to get healthy and started walking five miles a day. It's been six months and we have no idea where she is..."

LOL Cris - never heard that but it's a good one. So far I've still returned home after every walk ... of course I haven't gotten up to 5 miles a day yet, either...

I think you all are right on this one. It is just not set up in a way that makes it easy to log and follow. Maybe if you paid to join the site, but needless to say I am not willling to do that. Too many free things that are just as valuable lol

I am in a challenge through work. It is a step challenge and converts into miles. What I really like about it is that it converts all types of exercise into steps, too, based on effort and time to complete. It is easy to log, too.

I have a feeling that I will just wait until I have logged a few miles and then check into this periodically. Don't know that I will do it daily because it is somewhat of a hassle

I went back to my step challenge at work logs. This converted all exercise into steps (even if you didn't use steps -- like biking, rowing, weights, etc.) For May, I had 645,387 steps for a distance of 304 step miles! I think that is pretty good! In real steps, I did 437,796 or over 200 miles. Again, I'll take it!
