Hello,
I figured the best way to get started is to share our personal history with Ayurveda. So please in as much detail as you choose to share tell us about how you discovered Ayurveda. Please include at the very least how you discovered Ayurveda, how long you have been interested in or have practiced Ayurveda and any other items you think we might find interesting.
I look forward to reading everyone's posts.

I have only recently come to know about Ayurveda. I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease called Mixed Connective Tissue Disease on April 1, 2015. It is incurable, only treatable. Unfortunately the treatment options offered to me were as bad if not worse than the disease so I wanted to explore my options. After much research I decided that Ayurveda offered the best possibilities so I saught out a practitioner in my area and have begun learning about it and making small adjustments to my diet and lifestyle. I don't forsee me adopting a pure Ayurvedic lifestyle and diet, ( I like bacon too much to go vegan anyway), but I think adding portions of it will be helpful.
Apparently I am of the Kapha body type but more Vata in personality. My practitioner has told me that currently have a large Kapha imbalance but that I have also had a vata imbalance for most of my life. So the goal is to attack the Kapha first so as to get the illness managable then address the Vata more in depth. Thus far I have adjusted my daily schedule to follow along the Ayurvetic time table, increased the amount of vegitarian and vegan dishes in my diet while decreasing the red meat, animal fats, sugars and simple carbs and begun meditation. I have also added a daily quantity of ginger and turmeric to my diet. It seems to help with the pain some.
I have a yummy recipe for Golden Milk and I plan to try to figure out how to make it into an ice cream soon. I'll let you know when I do.0
