Hi all. I haven't been on here for a bit (few months) so I thought I'd come on by give a little update
I didn't start off very heavy - I was 165 at 5'6" in December of 2013- but it was still too heavy for me. I lost 5lb quite quickly and decided that I wanted to slow that loss down (didn't realise it was probably water loss), so I ate a bit more. I lost another 5 lbs and then I found EM2WL. I took it on and really went with it and lost 10 lb more over several months. It was great. I wasn't hungry, was able to do more, etc. Even with some bad things happening along the way, such as broken ribs and achilles tendonitis, I was still able to lose or maintain. I stopped my deficit once I reached my goal of 145 lb and have maintained this loss (a range of 145-148) since January or so. I stopped using MFP for the last two months (maybe longer?) and I'm eating much more intuitively though I've had a few bumps along the way. I think using EM2WL has really helped me understand how much to eat to maintain more than any other 'diet' I've used.
I'm now going to be doing a small 10% deficit for the next few months to lose a bit more fat and see if my body likes it. I'm okay with where I'm at and my body seems to be happy to maintain here, so if it doesn't work, then fine. It's more an experiment than anything else (plus it's summer so it's easier to eat a bit less heavy foods). We'll see how it goes!
So - newbies - note that it's worth it. I've done the restrictive diet (had an ED) and the over-exercising thing. THIS is what has worked while also not making me miserable and exhausted. You can do it!!!
