I found this article interesting and thought some of you may, too:

@FIT_Goat - halfway down he talks about how glycine (the main amino acid in collagen- and therefore in pork rinds) counteracts methionine toxicity, which can occur when all or most protein is derived from muscle tissue. Very interesting. I'm going to continue eating pork rinds when I want, continue with the hydrolyzed collagen I use in my smoothies, and continue with the gelatin gummy snacks I've made-- it may offset some of the risks of a high animal-muscle-protein diet as well as help heal a "leaky gut" and achy joints.

There's nothing wrong with pork rinds. And, I never told anyone to stop eating them. Heck, I love them myself. I was just saying they're not a complete protein. They can't be your only protein source.

:) my post wasn't meant as an argument-- not my intent at all! Just saying that I disagree with the labeling on the pork rinds, not the info you provided!

lol, I think the label is just there so they don't get sued if someone hurts themselves by trying to live on only pork rinds. Primarily because it looks like they have a lot of protein (and they do, just not all the essential amino acids), and someone who doesn't know better can assume it meats all their needs. With the label, the company can say, "We told them it wasn't a significant source of protein!"

@FIT_Goat so if you're getting your protein from meat & dairy are you getting enough of the essential amino acids? I'm getting confused (& that's very easy to do) again?

Yeah, meat and dairy are complete proteins. You're fine trying to live on those alone. You are also fine eating pork rinds, as long as you're eating other sources of protein as well.

lol, wasn't intentional. Just me not paying attention and the fact that I type "meat" a lot more often than "meet."
