Fantasy shopping list

The last few months have been hard for me financially so I've had to keto on a very tight budget. Lately I find myself fantasizing about all the lovely keto foods I'd like to buy when things are better. The list goes like this:
Almonds
T bone steak (my favourite type)
Chicken thighs which I don't share
Pork crackling (they are crazy expensive here)
Biltong (Beef jerky equivalent, also pricey)
Babybel mini cheese wheels
Parmesan cheese
Cream cheese
Duck fat
About a ton of bacon ( again no sharing)
Anyone else have such food porn fantasies?

Oh I forgot - getting one of those fancy coffee machines instead of making my BPC with instant yuck!0
-
Oh I want to buy a whole duck and roast it!! And I'd go to a farm and buy a half cow! (after buying a storage freezer!)0
-
I guess salmon crusted with macadamia nuts would be nice. A bucket of crabs, a hammer, and a bib. A lobster or two. Followed by some really good dark chocolate.
Damn, I think I just came up with a dinner plan.

Macadamian nuts - so fricken expensive here and hard to find.
Beef jerky
Salmon
Grass fed butter0 -
I want a freezer full of ribeyes.
And a freezer full of bacon.
And those Baby Bells...yummmm.0 -

Oh yes a freezer full of meat and bacon. Oh heaven!0 -
Maryland blue crab. and oysters. and lobster. (I think I have a shellfish problem).0
-
I'll second the coffee machine to make BPC. Using instant stuff right now and I'm sure it could taste better than it does0
-
Steak... so much steak.0
-
Meat, all kinds. Load the freezer with it! Ribs, ribeyes, pork chops, pork roast, ....... Need to take some out now for supper this evening!0
-
All of the above plus a chef and a maid to clean up the keto mess!! Well....it's just a dream. I'm the type who would clean before before the maid would come anyway!!! But the chef would be nice....of course we would have to win the mega millions.0

Everything is expensive here, but you can actually get salmon on sale for pretty cheap ($2.50 a pound, but you have to buy it whole, which I do, otherwise it's about $7 a pound)... more than the money, it's the availability... so many things you just can't GET here. A lot of stuff I have to make myself (like Italian sausage)
so I guess my list is ($$$ = expensive, ??? = not available)
foie gras $$$
salmon roe $$$ (soooo expensive here).
Wish I could even FIND beef cheeks, ???
King crab $$$
T-bone or Porterhouse steak. not a common cut here. if you find it it is $$$ and ???
Cashew butter $$$
Pecans $$$
Oysters that I don't have to Shuck my self. ???
Soy wraps $$$
Gem wraps $$$
More than ONE flavor or pork rinds ???
Well aged cheddar $$$
Smoked Mozzarella ???
Low carb tortillas ???
Italian Sausage ???
Breakfast Sausage ???
Ground Turkey ?? (find it once or twice a year)
Beef Spareribs ???

My fantasies actually involve coffee. I'd love to be able to afford Dave Asprey's Bulletproof Coffee products to see if there is a difference in performance like he claims there is. I'm under so much pressure and have so many things to keep track of every minute of every day that my cognitive performance has suffered in the past couple years (although I still run mental circles around most of my colleagues, LOL), and I'd really love to achieve peak performance again. Honestly I feel my cheap Folgers (or whatever brand I happen to have that week), coconut oil, and Kerrygold have led to improved clarity and increased energy, but what if the real thing truly is substantially better for those outcomes? Plus I'm just getting tired of cheap coffee.0

Babybels are on my list too. I think that and some steaks are the only things I look longingly at in the store but don't buy because of the price.0

I'm pondering buying some, just to test it out, once my most recently acquired tin of coffee runs out. I'll try to remember to report back.0 -

Please do! The next time I have an extra $50 knocking around (maybe when my husband finally finishes school and gets a "real job"?) I'm definitely going to splurge on Bulletproof products myself; but it'd be nice to have a preview of what to expect.0 -
I really need to start fishing...there's a river 5 minutes away from me with salmon! I'd really love to have a billion king crab legs, lobster, some salmon...all drenched in butter and a whole cow! And a whole elk for my freezer...some moose too. My lawdy I love meat! Hahah0

Maybe as your volume of coffee consumption is decreasing, you can increase the quality? Maybe not just the BPC stuff, but I know my fiance likes it when I buy even the cheapest beans to brew his coffee over something like folgers...0 -

That's what I was thinking. I was down to one cup (okay, one large travel mug) per day, but today I made two travel mugs because I had to get up extra early and drive the kids to my FIL's before work (and will have to drive all the way back over there to pick them up before heading home after work). I didn't want to risk getting sleepy on the road with my precious cargo. But I've been for about a week now brewing 4 cups instead of the 8 I used to drink before work (not to mention the 1-3 additional mugs I drank at the office). It makes one large BPC (in my large Tervis Tumbler that say NY GIANTS on the side--had to throw that NY pride in there) which has been more than sufficient for me in recent days. If I use less, I can certainly afford to buy better quality. And I'd also like to get an inexpensive grinder so I can buy whole bean. That's all coming up as soon as hubby starts bringing in enough money to help with bills other than rent.0 -

Folgers has always seemed bitter to me. It's what Dad's always drank, which is probably why I didn't drink coffee growing up and just started a few years ago.

There are also about a dozen variations of Folgers now too. Maybe a French Roast or Colombian Blend? Depends how dark you like it. Coffee prices just dropped here again so they are the same price, though the regular stuff has about 3 oz. more in the container.KnitOrMiss wrote: »My fantasies actually involve coffee. You can get a decent grinder for $10-$15, and buying beans online and roasting them yourself can increase quality and save money, but brands like 8-O'Clock Coffee and such are said to be quite good as far as buying whole beans...0 -

Yep, I think I bought my dad his electric grinder for about $14 several years ago.0 -

And I know I'm not a coffee person at all, so y'all might be laughing at my, but my ex was a coffee drinker, and his sis was a espresso and quality junkie, so I learned ALOT ALOT from her, and now my guy is a coffee snob too. The only thing I like about coffee is the smell of freshly roasted/ground beans, though I can tolerate dark chocolate covered espresso beans - that's about the utmost limit for me. So, I'm one of those people that if someone I love enjoys/loves something, I study/learn everything I can to hit that goal...even if it is isn't mine. LOL0 -
Turkey burgers, steak, vegetables (can I have a chef to make yummy vegetable dishes with this?!), Colombian coffee, creamer, fine cheeses, dark chocolate, and red wine!0
