Well, I guess we're officially a "group" and we're growing! This is the first group I have joined and the first that I have started a conversation/topic, so here goes!
Although I am sure that we all have different fitness and health goals, I thought it would be fun to share our exercise and fitness favorites with this group. I try to vary my exercise -- I belong to a gym and enjoy group fitness classes, such as Les Mill's Body Step, Body Attack and Sh'Bam (dance aerobics). I'll jump on the elliptical and various machines once in awhile. I walk/jog on occasion and also have several aerobic/weights interval DVDs (some are old enough to be VHS!) that I do at home. I'll be 51 this month, and although I don't have much weight to lose, these "later years" have made me look more flabby. I try to eat healthy, but also don't give up my treats once in awhile! There was a time when I was a lot heavier, although it was years ago.
So, feel free to share your fitness goals and what works for you! Also feel free to friend me if you enjoy giving and receiving encouragement! I log in every day and am a great "cheerleader" for my fitness pals!
Hope all of you have a great day and weekend!

Well done for starting!
You sound active Walking works for me and I am not doing any great speeds / distances due to injury, but it gives me extra calories to add add onto snacks every day - which is nice! I wouldn't manage the MFP goals without it.
Not exactly a strenuous 'routine' (!) but it all adds up if like me you need to go places. I (collectively) walk an hour on a weekday anyway just between home and work with stages either side of my train commute. I have also discovered, because I live in a city centre, that shopping counts! That's obviously only if you are walking to and continually browsing around the shops rather than standing about - MFP has walking as an exercise at varying speeds so I chose exactly what suits. It doesn't feel a lot like exercise either but I carry on walking to the park for some leafy views then home.
I do some weights in the gym, using machines - not my favourite, it's for muscle rehab for me, and I am giving some core exercises a go too + bits of Pilates.0 -
Well, I'm not sure I'd call this a "routine" per se, but...
I try to get in 45-50 miles each week on my bike, usually split over two rides and another 20 miles running. What works best is 2 days run, then ride, next day rest, repeat. I fit some sort of strength training in there, whether it is push-ups and squats at home or training at the gym. This will continue until cold weather when I will drop the outdoor bike riding. (Yes, I am a wimp!) You'd think I'd be rail thin, but no, I am still a lumpy bumpy soft Oma
Frankly, learning to deal with my allergy is keeping out of the gym (and the grocery store and Wal-Mart and most enclosed public places) unless I have the place to myself. Too often I drive there, get parked and ready to go in when someone is suddenly standing at the doorway eating one of those Cuties (a Clementine/Mandarin orange). You know, it would be better for me if they were SMOKING at the door, but no, they are eating my kryptonite! I cannot take enough meds to combat that kind of exposure and still be able to function. I am almost ready to cancel my membership!0 -
hey big sympathy on the allergies - that's so rough when you're trying to get fit ... I avoid the changing / shower areas as spray deodorants / hair sprays / really perfumed chemicals make me wheeze for about 48 hours ... I have never thought twice about eating citrus fruit in public spaces, I had no idea, but I will do now
kudos on the mileage though - impressive!0 -

Thank you!!
And thank you also for being aware that you do not live in isolation. I had a mild reaction just yesterday when I was taking our youngest to college to set up his campus housing arrangements. I stepped out of a building and immediately broke out in hives. Looked around, and two buildings over was a woman peeling an orange. Thankfully, I had taken my meds already!! And FWIW, I never wear perfumes and scented deodorant or body lotions in public for this very reason. You never know.0 -
Two buildings away! Poor you!! Right, am packing for public snacking as am eating breakfast on a long train journey for work tomorrow .. banana and raspberries it is!0

Wow, I have never really heard about citrus allergies (or at least being so strong). I learn something new every day!
